Having worked in customer service for years, I know how hard the service/hospitality industries can be. That said, I don't wish our experience on anyone else. First: communication wasn't great. I'd asked the night before arrival if we could check in 1 hour early. She didn't give us the affirmative until we were already on-route. Upon arrival, all I had was garage access (I assumed this led to the house, but did not) After texting & then leaving a VM, she did respond with an apology & lockbox code. Upon entry, the house smelled funky. Not air freshener, not food, just funk. Not pleasant. Upon walk-through, the house was NOT what the pictures presented. First floor: Scrapes/dings in the walls, dirty door jams & trim, flooring peeling, cracking & separating in places. Gas stove had broken burner top, fridge also had odor & was full of partially used items. Freezer needed a thaw & had food items in it as well. Table was stained & peeling. Both sectional & ottoman were visibly stained. Upstairs: carpet was plush, but crunchy - as if poorly cleaned at some point. The upstairs odor was worse. I eventually discovered it was emanating from the washing machine. The bedrooms were shabby as well. Dings in walls, poor patch jobs. Stained mattress covers and pillows. Shower missing tiles around faucet area. I contacted owner to say we'd be leaving early due to poor house condition. Response? Told me there were no odors & that they'd already removed stained bedding 2 days prior. Horrible.
