Up above Dove Cottage, Langdale has one of the finest views of Grasmere Lake and its surrounding Fells - simply breathtaking! A short stroll takes you into the village for provisions, a spot of lunch or dinner, or maybe to try its famous gingerbread. Then perhaps a walk around the lake, or try one of the many walks from Langdale’s garden; the ’coffin’ trail leading to Rydal, Alcock Tarn, Loughrigg or through Deerbolt woods into Elterwater. A clean and well-equipped apartment with great views of the lake. The walk uphill from Grasmere is worth it for the view. Very quiet and dark at night - we slept very well. We saw red squirrels and deer in the garden. We walked up to Alcock Tarn one morning, and along the Coffin Route and around Rydal and Grasmere another day, both from the apartment. We enjoyed good cakes and coffee in Mathilde's and in Emma's Dell, and a nice meal in Tweedies. We were lucky with the weather, and had a great week. We had a lovely holiday in Grasmere staying at Langdale Crag. We went walking every day. Mostly straight from the apartment. Only used our car once all week. It is a beautiful part of the world. We loved the books and walk guides left by the owners and used many of the routes suggested. This accommodation is spacious, clean and well maintained with beautiful views. We plan to visit again. Lovely 2nd floor flat with fantastic views over Grasmere. Very comfortable except for the double beds which are on the small side.

A spacious well equipped apartment with an amazing view, from the lounge/ dining area, that we enjoyed every day. It is comfortably and stylishly furnished. The stairs into the flat are quite steep as is the walk from Dove Cottage to the building. However we didn't mind this as being so high provided the view.

We booked this apartment at short notice attracted by its location (within easy walking distance of Grasmere yet in a peaceful spot outside the village and overlooking the water) and facilities. The open plan kitchen/living area is wonderful with loads of space, comfort, quality furniture and fittings. The views from the window are fabulous. The 2 bathrooms are of similar quality and the hallway is spacious with hanging for coats and trays for boots. The largest bedroom is very comfortable with plenty of space, a good bed, large wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinets. As we were only a couple these were all the rooms we used and this is where we have reservations about the property being marketed for 6 people. The twin bedded room is fine with just enough room for a single bedside cabinet between the 2 single beds (each tight up to a wall) - ideal for 2 children. The second double bedroom however is only just large enough for the double bed leaving very little space on either side. On one side of the bed the wall juts out half way along the bed ready to stub the toes of any unwary person getting in or out of bed on that side. For a group of 5 I would say Langdale Crag is pretty perfect and I would be delighted to stay there again, but I wouldn't want to book it for 6. The laundry facilities are in an outbuilding and are shared with other properties in the group. A lick of paint and a bit of a tidy and a clean would be good in there. The gardens are also shared and we didn't see many people in them. They share the same beautiful views seen from the apartment. There are lovely walks from the gate at the top of the garden. For fewer than 6 I doubt that Langdale Crag can be beaten - it is beautiful and clearly loved and cared for by the fortunate owners. The quality of the fixtures and equipment was much appreciated, as was the fact that cleaning equipment, towels, washing up equipment etc were all supplied. We were sorry to leave but left in response to the prompt arrival of the friendly and efficient cleaners.
