While the host Selina was very responsive on the platform and provided some recommendations to help get us settled in the area, this property was not a fit for our expectations and needs. First, it should have been stated in the listing that this rental is in a tourist apartment building that is VERY dated. While we expect some character and history touring Portgual, the rental itself could use a serious refresh with the decor and fixtures such as taps, toilets, sinks, fridge. Second - the futon or single beds were very hard and squeeked whenever you turned in them! Third, the location itself appeared to be in a questionable, residental area of Alburfuria. For my husband, who is a large, confident man to not feel good about the location, that says something. Third, due to the mix of what I can only assume are owners and hotel guests, we received ZERO sleep the single night we elected to stay at the property. People made loud noises, were singing and banging around in the hallway/stairwell at all hours of the night/early morning. This was made worst by the echo effect of the hallways. Lastly, as a vacation rental host myself, (property in Costa Rica) I expect a host to provide certain amenties at a very minimum when a guest has paid good money to stay in their property. The fact that there was ZERO toilet paper or paper towels in the rental was a deal breaker. I wanted to like it and give it a chance, but unfortunately this one did not make the cut during our trip
