In the village of Diakofto you can meet the spectacular mountain railway Odontotos that crosses the Vouraikos Gorge, a verdant area and goes up to the beautiful and picturesque Kalavryta. Here you can stroll around or visit the Municipal Museum of the Kalavryta Holocaust. Kalavryta is famous for its ski resort, one of the largest in Greece and one of the only two in the world where mountain skiing is combined with swimming in the sea of Diakoptos, just 20 kilometers away.
Its beaches are among the most beautiful in Corinthia, especially the famous secluded beach "Egali" as well as "Pounda", with crystal clear sea and beautiful beach.
Heading towards Kalavryta, there is the Monastery of Mega Spilaio (Great Cavern Monastery). An eight-floor historic monastery, at a height of 924 m. with a rich history dated back to 362 A.D and an imposing/majestic position which dictates the respect of every visitor.
At a distance of 5 klm from Kalavryta, you can visit the Monastery of Agia Lavra, where Greek people rose against the Turks and the Greek Revolution of 1821 was declared.
