Wonderful house in a wonderful place!

The house is wonderful and the location is perfect, with a beautiful view of the mountains. Our flight landed very late in the night but we hadn't any problem with the check-in. Every day someone came to ask if we needed something and to make some cleaning. We visited the main beaches in the neighborhood driving from 30 to 120 minutes. I really recommend this location!

Best House Crete

Kühne Architektur, hochwertige intelligent Ausstattung, atemberaubender Rundblick: Berge, Schluchten, Meer. Wohlfühl-Ambiente: Eigener Pool, Hängematte, Grillkamin, 4 Terrassen, das Haus innen: offener Kamin für kühle Abende. Klimaanlage in allen Räumen, Panoramablick in alle Himmelsrichtungen. Aber das Wichtigste: es ist einfach sehr schön, erholsamund zugleich abwechslungsreich.

Lovely villa with amazing panaromic views!

We really enjoyed our stay, the villa is situated in a beautiful spot - very quiet and picturesque views all around. Eleni who looked after us whilst we were there was lovely and very helpful. Spili the nearest town is good for supermarkets and tavernas and only about 10 minutes away from the villa. The beaches are also not too far with gorgeous clear water and again very quiet and not touristy at all - we really felt as though we saw the true way of life in Crete. I would definitely book with HomeAway again many thanks!

Views, views, views!

This house exceeded our expectations, and was a terrific price! It was spotlessly clean, modern, and had everything our family of four needed. The pool and numerous outdoor seating areas were especially appreciated. There are no photographs that can capture how beautiful the area around the house is - views from every direction! On several nights we sat and watched the sunset while our girls enjoyed a late swim in the pool. Because the house is up high, it can tend to get windy, but we did enjoy plenty of times where the wind was hardly blowing. There is a "sister" house right next door, but there were no issues because the houses don't share any common spaces and the pools/outdoor areas don't face each other. We loved the wild beauty of the area - traveling to Plakias or Preveli Beach takes about 25 minutes and you drive through the spectacular Kourtaliotiko Gorge. The Gorge is so amazing that you can't help stopping to take pictures no matter how many times you drive through it - but just a helpful tip that it can be a bit of a nerve-wracking drive, especially after dark. On several nights, we opted to get dinner early in Plakias so that we could be home before dark, allowing us to enjoy the sunset views from the house. The town of Spili is close by to the house, but we found it a bit underwhelming and tried to get dinner there on our first night around 9:30, believing that people eat dinner late as they do in the cities in Greece, but found that the restaurants were all closed or near closing. We even had an earlier dinner one night in Rethymno (which we really loved, much more than Chania), and then it was an easy 30-40 minute drive back to the house. I would recommend this house to anyone who appreciates a quiet stay in the mountains (so quiet that you could hear the sheep/goats' bells ringing), but not too far from beaches/sights, and a house with a pool and great outdoor areas. It might be a bit tough for a family with elderly relatives or very young kids because you park at the bottom of the hill and there are many steps up the house, but my kids are 7 & 9 and had no issues.

Traumhaftes Haus und Garten

Wir ( 4 erwachsene Personen ) haben dieses traumhafte Haus Anfang April für 9 Tage bewohnt und waren über unsere Wahl außerordentlich zufrieden. Der erste Eindruck war mit einer schnellen Antwort auf unsere Anfrage schon positiv. Total unkompliziert konnten wir sofort kommen. Die Anfahrt zum Haus war Dank Navigation sehr einfach zu finden. Ein Leihwagen ist in dieser Region zwingend erforderlich. Im Haus angekommen wurde unser Eindruck, den wir ja schon von den Fotos hatten weit mehr als übertroffen. Liebevoll eingerichtet, nichts abgewohnt und alles sehr gepflegt und sauber. Wir haben nichts vermisst. Unübertroffen sind die diversen Terrassen- zu jeder Himmelsrichtung gibt's was Passendes. Wir konnten gar nicht alles nutzen - so viel Auswahl war vorhanden. Jeden zweiten Tag kam Eleni und hat uns super betreut. Handtuchwechsel, Mülleimer ausgeleert und geputzt- wirklich toll. DANKE an dieser Stelle an sie. Im Ort selber gibt es einen Minimarkt der wirklich alles hatte was man so braucht. Die dazugehörige Bäckerei ist ein Traum.....Obst, Gemüse, Duschgel, Kaminanzünder, Milch, etc. alles da. Da wir bereits Anfang/ Mitte April schon Temperaturen von bis zu 26 Grad hatten, konnten wir den Poolbereich ausgiebig nutzen. Dieser ist komfortabel ausgestattet, ausreichend Schatten ist vorhanden. Am Pool selber war es immer windgeschützt. Die Ruhe am Haus ist ein Traum - kein Lärm, nur ab und an fuhr mal ein Auto vorbei ....nur Vogelgezwitscher und die Glöckchen der Schafe waren zu hören. Ideal für Menschen die abseits der Hektik ihren Urlaub verbringen möchten. Wenn man allerdings Stadtleben haben will - Rethymnon ist in 30 min. zu erreichen - eine wunderschöne Stadt mit netten Tavernen und Geschäften. Der Flughafen Chania ist in ca. 1 Stunde 20 min zu erreichen, der wunderschöne Strand im Süden ( Plakias) ist auch in 30 min. erreichbar. Dort war es sogar noch mal um einige Grad wärmer. Rund um Plakias gibt es noch viel mehr tolle Strände!!! Rundum : ein erholsamer Urlaub und ein Gastgeber den man sich nur wünschen kann. Grüße auch an die Familie, die wir zu Ostern kennenlernen durften :) Wir kommen definitiv mal wieder. DANKE !

Amazing house with all you need

We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful house. Very stylish, great pool, beautiful surrounding, all the necessities you need. Communication with the owner was easy, nice and very quick. The maid is an extra bonus which we did not expect and which was great. She is a very nice person. Thanks for the cake and the homemade marmelade! The location is perfect for doing trips in all directions over the island. Thanks for the lovely stay, definitely will recommend it!

Beautiful Villa in stunning surroundings

These villas are fabulous properties. Immaculately clean and nicely furnished. We particularly liked the comfortable beds, something usually lacking in Crete villas! Views from every window are stunning. We loved sitting out on the back terrace watching the birds and listening to those lovely sheep bells! Unfortunately, we hadn’t appreciated just how much cooler it would be in that location or how windy. Obvious now we’ve been there as it’s high up in the hills. But there was a 5-7 oC drop in temperature from the coast at Plakias to the villa and it was so windy we couldn’t sit outside anywhere except on the more sheltered back terrace. I think the cooler weather would be great in the summer when you want to escape the heat but in October it meant we were actually quite cold and couldn’t sit outside as much as we’d expected to. Also, the pool was far too cold to use which was such a shame. A pool cover or some solar heating would extend the pool season. Clearly the weather isn’t the owners fault but worth knowing if you plan to stay in the spring or autumn. Yiannis and his family were very attentive and helpful. They were quick to respond to the few small issues we had. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others.

Fantastic villa in a fantastic location!

Villa Myrte is the ideal location to spend a relaxing and peaceful holiday. The surroundings are stunning with exquisite panoramic views everywhere you look. It is also ideally situated for exploring the north and south coasts. The villa has everything you need and more to provide a truly fabulous holiday experience. We would definitely recommend and hope to return one day.

Perfect!

We stayed for 2 nights with our 3 children, ages 13-15. All of us loved the house and the amenities, the kids especially loved the pool. The view was spectacular. There was an amazing bottle of wine left for us, thank you. Wish we could've bought more. Also some Raki, which was lovely after each meal. We appreciated the wonderful woman who came to clean and she also brought us homemade jam. We visited the local market/bakery, extremely friendly and kind owners as well as the local creamery. Amazing homemade cheeses. We went to Palm Lake in Preveli. Beautiful beach. A lot of stairs to get there but worth it. Recommend wearing tennis shoes. There's a cafe on the beach. We would highly recommend this home and this area and would love to stay again. Thank you!

Gorgeous views, nice lessors, perfect service

We had a nice week in the modern holiday house. The position of the house is awesome, you have many terraces with free views in the mountains and on some small villages and even the sea is visible. One of the most modern houses we have seen on the Island, very high local standard. The House was cleaned every day through a housekeeper, at our arrival we found some greetings from the lessors together with wine, raki, water, easter bread and eggs, that is service! Even a arrival in the night was possible. We can recommend the house.

Splendid isolation

We loved staying in the villa. A beautifully conceived building in a spectacular hill top location. It was regularly cleaned with fresh towels when needed and we were well looked after with complimentary wine from the owners vinyard, raki and jam. We would come again in a heart beat. Perfect location, wonderful holiday

Our second visit (we stayed in autumn 2012 too) and we enjoyed coming back very much. The properties enyoy a wonderful aspect, share a modern interesting design and are delightfully peaceful. At villa Myrte there is always a sheltered sunny spot to sit in outside and enjoy the sun, the birds and the butterflies as well as swimming in the refreshing pool. Plenty of places to see nearby, the stunning south coast beaches only 20 mins away, and some of Crete's main sights are also very accessible - Knossos only 1.25 hours drive. Anna gave us the warmest of welcomes again. We wouldn't hesitate to rcommend this as a most enjoyable and relaxing destination. Nick and Gez. Halifax, UK

Très belle villa en adéquation avec l'annonce et les échanges avec les propriétaires

Les prestations hôtelières sont en adéquation avec l'annonce. Nous avons trouvé une location récente, propre, meublée avec goût, entièrement équipée : 2 salles de bain avec WC incorporés, cuisine équipée d'un très beau réfrigérateur/congélateur et d'un lave-vaisselle. Le lave-linge se trouve à l'extérieur, sous un hall abrité situé dans la deuxième maison. La literie est de très bonne qualité avec protège-matelas et propre. Il s'agit bien de 2 maisons non-mitoyennes avec chacune une piscine privée et plusieurs terrasses et espaces détentes. Nous occupions la résidence "Daphné". Les extérieurs sont entretenus et arrosés par les propriétaires régulièrement. Seul bémol, entre le lieu de parking du véhicule et le palier de la maison, nous avons compté environ 80 marches. Ceci rend l'accès difficile au personnes à mobilité réduite... Mais c'est la seule ombre au tableau. Nous sommes restés 6 jours pendant lesquels nous avons visité les villages de Plakias, Spili, Réthymnon, le Monastère de Pivelli et la plage de "Palm Beach" au-dessous, les Gorges d'Imbros, que nous avons adorées. C'est une destination calme et dépaysante, à recommander sans réserve. Nous retournerons sur cette île à la porte de la France. Merci à Eleni pour sa gentillesse et sa disponibilité pour l'entretien de la villa. Egalement à Anna et Stavros pour leur accueil. Françoise, Guénaël, Maud, Chloé, et Thibaud.
