Booked a twin and double room. Rooms clean and well appointed with a communal kitchen area for use by guests.
Did not use breakfast service as we left in the morning before the hotel staff had arrived.
Only small complaint was that the staff were unable to open the connecting door between the 2 rooms which would have made things a lot easier.
Booked this for one of my employees who was working in the area. When he arrived he was shown to a room in the roofspace that had to duck all the time due to the amount the roof came into the room. Booked a room with a private bathroom but he was shown a bathroom along a public corridor, not exactly private! Then the bar was noisy until about 0130 when he was trying to sleep as he was up early in the morning. Needless to say he wasn't very happy!
I felt extremely comfortable right from the off. The staff were excelent in reception, restaurant and bar. Rooms were comfortable and food was good. This hotel gets my vote.
Staff and customers were brilliant. Pub was wheelchair assessable, rooms weren't. Food was poor, chicken was over cooked (double cooked so dry), you couldn't cut the veg. Complained & second time around was better, although chicken was still dry. Landlord did knock 1 meal off the bill.
The bedrooms were upstairs, Expedia must add this to their site. Luckily, I can walk a bit with help so the landlord & barman helped us stairs.
The room was nice but superking bed, was 2 singles pushed together, the quilt was a double in a kingsized cover. One of the mattresses was very used, lumpy isn't the word for it. You keep rolling off the bed. Being over the bar, you had music until 12.30am and doors banging. (soft close door downstairs would help. There was a kitchenette outside the room with extra tea, coffee, hot chocolate, but the milk in the fridge had gone off and we only had 3 UHT milks in the room so we couldn't more than 1 drink in the morning.
Unless you wish to get a taste of Scottish partying and having a late night, I don't recommend staying at this hotel, unfortunately.
I really like this hotel, a family business but they’re very good and the food in their restaurant was fabulous.
The room is nice size and the bathroom lovely and clean.
The breakfast( if it part of your booking)is continental and quite unique. There is a small kitchen area where you can boil up to 3 eggs, make toast have cereal tea and coffee, biscuits etc. I really enjoyed doing it myself it was fun.
The bar area is excellent if you like your sports on TV as they have all the sports channels and there’s a lot of banter. Overall a great time and I’ll be back soon.
Lovely small hotel, conveniently placed for work, good value and nice breakfast. Dinner was busy , many local people using the hotel restaurant which is always a good sign.
