Would definitely recommend a trip to Tequila, a walking tour of the market / visiting the market and looking at the stunning architecture. I'd also recommend a bar called cantina la Occidental for a nice atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks.

I go frequently to GDL. It's a bit more industrial than CDMX, but is a much less congested town with very nice people, excellent restaurant and shopping options, and interesting historical district.

GDL has a very unique vibe to it. It's so quiet and peaceful & surrounded by the most beautiful gardens and parks although it's a big city too. The best of both worlds in my opinion!

People are very friendly and nice. Unfortunately, the city needs to improve on its cleanliness. You can easily step on to dog poop when walking on the street. The public transport from the airport to downtown can be improved.

Wonderful place to explore and use as a base for day trips. However, staying in the city center you see how much has deteriorated outside the immediate area around the cathedral. We also stayed for a few days in a suburb. Limited public transport.
