Himakajima Pet-friendly Vacations

We had a great stay on our mother daughter trip to Takayama. The location was perfect for getting around on foot close to many great landmarks. Our room had a beautiful view and was one of the biggest rooms we stayed in on our Japan trip. The onsen was a treat and the breakfast staff and front desk were so helpful and very kind. We loved our stay!

We enjoyed our three nights stay. It is right in the center of the old town, you can walk everywhere. The staff in the hotel are super nice and helpful. We have three mornings Japanese breakfast, amazing experience!

We stayed here for three nights and it was fine. We went back and forth between a four and three star rating. We really appreciated them upgrading us to a room with a bathroom (on mistake we booked a room without a bathroom) but overall we weren't overly enthused with the stay. They charged us C$33 per day for a five month old baby and all that was provided was a little bag of toys and an oversized kimono she could wear during the stay. We didn't have the breakfast as it was quite expensive (if I remember correctly something like C$30 each per day). The actual room was a bit worn and outdated but it was clean and we did like how they gave us little cookies every day. There was a nice lobby area with seating and free sake at night. The employees were polite and welcoming so no qualms there. The location was excellent for us - right next to the bus / train station and a 10 minute walk to the old town. I will also say that the laundrymat was free and convenient.

A very charming resort with very beautiful surroundings. We booked the villa and the room is spacious. The loft is spacious but the stairs were quite steep. Unfortunately, the public bath is under upgrading works during our stay and we did not get to use it.

The hotel staff was very helpful and very friendly Please don’t forget to make a reservation for our taxi next time

The food is so good at there restaurants. And the place is near everything that is so convenient.

The hotel was very clean and the staff was incredibly kind! The one concern I have is regarding their smoking vs non smoking rooms. A friend booked a non-smoking room, which it was, however, it seemed like half of the floor was smoking and the other half not. The floor reeked of second hand smoke and it could be smelled through the room, though less potent. It was pretty potent. I would encourage the hotel to make the entire floor non smoking or figure out a way to fix the smell of the second hand smoke.

Overall can only rate it OK and not sure if would want to stay at this hotel if I do visit Nagoya again. Distance: ok ‘quite’ near to malls and Nagoya station, however if to drag luggage from station to hotel vice versa there is a challenge with the distance. Avoid underground walkway as is up and down stairs. Cleanliness: I was surprised on the hotel eco efforts, sure no cleaning to be done on daily and they will replace towels, provide the tea and bottled water. Do note the replaced new towels are placed inside plastic bag so not sure how this help with their eco claims. The ‘new’ towels are not that clean have spotted hair on the towels in the plastic bag 3 times during my 5 nights stay. Amenities are the very basic ones. Room: central aircon and super super hot, basically like no air ventilation. I was given a corner room facing the road and I must say sound proof very bad super noisy from the road traffic. The saving grace will be the staff at the reception, very helpful team.
