Location is great! Hotel is clean

Downtown LA Proper was such a beautiful, unique hotel. The lobby, restaurants, and rooftop are all just as awe inspiring as they look in pictures. Our room was on the smaller side but laid out well, clean, and beautiful. There isn't much to do in teh immediately surrounding neighborhood, so plan to walk several blocks and/or be in a car to get where you're going.

The staff was kind and friendly. The rooms and property were extremely clean. However the place is old and needs some major upgrades. The floors were very soft in places. The adjoining door was ready to fall off the hinges so we had to maneuver it to get it to close. The dresser drawer wouldn’t stay closed and kept opening.

I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel obligated to warn future guests. My family and I stayed here for a week and paid nearly $6,000. Looking back, it was one of the biggest disappointments of our trip. The main reason I booked this property was the advertised parking. What the listing doesn’t disclose is that the parking space only fits a very small car. Families often rent SUVs or larger vehicles, so this should have been clearly stated. I had to spend hours to find parking each day. The listing also advertises three bedrooms, but one is an attic with no air conditioning and such a low ceiling that you must bend to reach the bed. The attached bathroom has a cabinet directly above the toilet, and several members of my family bumped their heads using it. I reported these issues on the first day. Customer service promised a $100 rebate, which was insignificant compared to what I paid, but I accepted it in good faith. The rebate was never honored. Checkout was equally disappointing. Just after 11:00 a.m., while we were finishing packing, someone claiming to be the manager called and demanded that we leave immediately. He refused my request for just 15 more minutes and hung up when I asked his name. Moments later, a housekeeper entered through the back door before we had left. My advice: ask detailed questions about the parking and bedroom layout before booking. I wish I had known these facts beforehand. It would have saved my family a very disappointing experience.

Traveled 1 night stay with 2 children and my spouse. My first impression is that this is a suit & tie hotel. Very beautiful and is trying to bring the luxury feel to Anaheim. Parking is crazy expensive, 40$ & I understand they are competing with Disney lot prices but that ticket price should definitely be lowered to 30$ maximum. Since ultimately, they are not Disney. The pool is beautiful & is heated. They give you a 20$ incentive of spending in the hotel. We used it at the store but we just bought 2 bags of chips, 2 drinks, 1 beef jerky, & two chocolate bars, the total was 40$. So pretty hefty price tags within the hotel. We also did room service. I thought it would come up in fancy dish-ware but was a bit disappointed. I got the pasta, but the sauce seeped through the box and got all over the counter which was a bummer. But was very delicious. Price tag with 18% gratuity automatic, about 90$. For steak/fries & pasta/chicken. They had a weight to weigh yourself in the room but it didn’t work. Would I say this hotel is family friendly? depends, if you’re looking for a budget friendly hotel then no it is not. If you’re looking for a special occasion hotel & want to splurge a bit then yes it’s beautiful. I had two children so did not get to see the upstairs pool since it is 18+ which understandable. I’d come back without my kids lol. I’d comeback if I want to feel luxurious. But if I’m on a budget I wouldnt keep this hotel as my top choices. No free breakfast also.😊🙏
