Great room, central location and friendly staff

The room was immaculately clean. The hotel was right on a beautiful beach. The grounds and pool were magnificent. The breakfast was perfect. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Service was excellent and the room was very well provided, with a potable water tap to refill my bottle. We often stay here because the location is fantastic -- walking distance to most sites in George Town.

Everything about this hotel was incredible. We have stayed at countless hotels worldwide and could not rank any higher. The service was amazing. They went above and beyond to assist with my need for water suitable for a CPAP. The food excellent. The grounds were breathtaking and well attended. Loved it.

The shower in my room was broken, the safe didn’t work, the refrigerator didn’t work, the lotion dispenser was empty. 33 floor building, 3 lifts, one of which was broken, and the staff use the guest lifts as well. On my third night the battery in my door gave out so I couldn’t get in my room-which meant two trips to the lobby from one of the top floors, at close to 11 pm. Once the door was fixed, for reasons I still don’t understand, a random staff person showed up and rang the door at 11:30 pm. I don’t know what language he spoke-it wasn’t Malay, Thai, Chinese, English or French. After trying all those I gave up and made him leave. On a more positive note the bed was comfortable. But the hotel overall needs attention to the basics, maintenance is shockingly bad.

The room and buildings were beautiful. The service varied. Sometimes very good, sometimes stand offish but professional. The service at the poolside was a bit rude. Our request for napkins when we received some food was met with eye rolling for example. The food was 3/5. One exception was the afternoon tea which was wonderful.

It’s one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed at. It reminds us the colonial era yet the facilities are modern. The staff are friendly and always available to help. There are lots of food choices within a 5-10 walk from the hotel. Will definitely stay here again.
