Costa Barcelona Kid friendly Vacations

We had a room with a terrace and pool access. You could walk out onto the terrace joined to the room and from there walk out to the pool without having to go through the hotel. This is great, except the pool door did not lock on our terrace and the QR to the room did not work. So someone could literally have walked right into our room at any time from the pool. This is unsafe. We placed chairs in front of the door on the terrace so we could hear scraping if the door was attempted to be open. The terrace also has pool chairs right outside so people at the pool are next to you with no privacy The hotel is no where near Barcelona. The bus stop is right outside the hotel but the cost is about 5€ each way pp. Have cash or get bus tickets before leaving Barcelona. It takes about 30-40 mins each way. An uber or bolt will cost in the realm of 40-65$ one way. Definitely take the bus if you can. Food is also a little far but you can Uber Eats The QR code to enter your room is a great idea in theory but did not always work as the internet was a little shaky at times The view from the pool is nice and the pool itself is a great amenity. The recliners are dirty. Some hotel guests also leave trash etc which can happen anywhere but the staff seemed in short supply out there as there was always some sort of litter around. Ants and moths in room The breakfast was 15€ per person for bread and fruit. Not worth it. You can get a full meal in the city for the same price.

We had a great stay, hotel and amenities average but staff excellent.

My husband and I enjoyed 10 nights at the Castellmar. The building is older and the bathroom could use a face lift but everything was spotlessly clean. The kitchen was well equipped and the bed was comfortable. The deck off the living room was huge and we enjoyed our partial view of the sea. I would recommend this property for the price even though the walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbours.

Spotless. Lovely pool. Roomy walk in shower. Balcony with table and seating. Superking bed which was very comfy.

Staff were friendly and all speak English. We especially liked the tall waiter at breakfast and the chef from Pakistan who were more interactive. Breakfast was really nice, freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh coffee, sausages, beans, eggs, Spanish omelette, fruits, walnuts, cereals, yogurts, breads, jams, gluten free options and lots of options for vegetarians. The room was clean and nice enough, although a little dated. It was very hot whilst we was there and the air-con in our room wasn't great, it's much cooler in the corridors and lobby. It wasn't bad enough for us to complain about and they may have rectified it if we had. The TV has a HDMI if you want to take your firestick or other device. There is wifi but can be intermittent at times, so if you need to do any work online it might be worth requesting a room with stronger signal or going to the lobby. Maids are friendly, come daily unless you attach do not disturb sign and leave the room lovely. Location is good, 5 mins from the beach/ restaurants and 10-15mins walk from the train station (depending on pace) that takes you direct to Barcelona Sants or Gracia where you can change for the metro if needed. The pool area is really nice, you can get fries/ drinks, all tasty. Sometimes quiet, sometimes more people but no problems getting a sunbed, maids will change your pool towels everyday that are provided complimentary from the hotel. Some sunbeds could do with a deep clean but mostly all ok. We enjoyed our stay!
