Beautiful place will go again

My family and I had a great time. Hotel room was nice, breakfast was good. Breakfast could use more western variety. Pools were good and location was good.

1 Star – Bait and Switch Pricing, Disappointing Experience Our stay at Hotel Nikko Alivila started with what felt like a classic bait-and-switch. After traveling for more than 14 hours and driving through the rain in a rental car, we arrived exhausted, only to be told that our room rate had increased by more than $300. We immediately questioned the charge, but the staff told us we had only two options: pay the higher rate or lose our reservation. After such a long journey, we had no realistic choice but to pay. No guest should be put in that position after booking a reservation in advance. It was an incredibly frustrating and stressful way to begin our vacation. To make matters worse, the overall experience did not justify the premium price. The hotel's amenities, service, and overall value were noticeably below what we experienced at the Grand Mercure Okinawa Cape Zanpa Resort, located just up the road. The Grand Mercure offered better facilities, a more enjoyable atmosphere, and far greater value for the money. We expected much more from Hotel Nikko Alivila given its reputation, but instead left feeling taken advantage of. I cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience, especially if you expect the price you booked to be the price you actually pay.

What a lovely place to stay. Beautiful view of the ocean and easy access to it. Love the hotel pajamas. They are so comfortable. We rented a car and had a wonderful time exploring nearby areas and driving north. Also, we could go at our own pace and not worry about getting to the tours on time and feeling rushed through our experiences. We would love to stay here again if we return to Onna City. Very clean, great customer service, great amenities, spacious accommodations.

If you came to snorkel, you found the right place. It has the best off beach snorkeling I have seen and I have traveled to Australia and Palawan. Its pristine all over the island but right in front here is a hidden gem. The staff is amazing. They are very warm and friendly and do everything to make the stay pleasurable. The bus takes you to the other resorts which is so helpful for dining. I loved it here. It’s not a stuffy marble hotel. It’s great for families because of the room sizes.

I am American and my beach vacations are usually to Mexico. Please keep that in mind when reading my review as that is what I will compare most of it to. I am spoiled. If you are familiar with that type of resort, this will dissapoint you. 1. If you are expecting something nice and modern you will not get that here. This hotel is very outdated. The service is on par for a nicer hotel. The staff was 4/5, Actual hotel probably 2/5. The AC is very weak and Okinawa is hot and humid. The first night we were sweating and had to call for a fan. We left the ac running the next day and it was much more comfortable. Also the parking lot is far from the hotel. They do have a shuttle though. 2. The beach was fantastic. The water here is some of the best I've seen. Bahamas level or better. There are still some fish in the swimming area even though its netted off. 3. Expensive! This hotel was the most expensive of our entire Japan trip and probably the worst. Not only was the stay expensive but everything you wanted to do there cost extra and there was a huge mark up on drinks. I got used to paying under 500 yen for a beer in the mainland but here it was 1000 for one beer. Even 990 for a cola! I got used to Japan prices for the previous 10 days and then got sticker shock when I had to pay America type prices. I would not stay here again. Would just pay to use beach

The room was decent. Property was nice. Nothing ever seemed open. It was unfortunate that we had a typhoon warning during our stay. No where to sit and have a cocktail till later. The Japanese teppanyaki restaurant was insanely expensive and not very good. It’s really far from most everything which we didn’t realize until we got there so we opted out of our last night and booked a room by American Village. Staff was very nice though.
