9/10 Wonderful! (1,002 reviews)
Decent location and clean, but the "Deluxe" room feels basic for a comfortable stay and the hotel decor is tired.
I recently stayed at Dorsett Shanghai and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the location was convenient to get from Hongipou high speed train / to Shanghai PVG /accessing tourist areas on line 2, the check-in process was smooth, the room was tidy and staff are very helpful.
However, the room fell short on comfort for a truly relaxing stay. There was no bathrobes provided, which is something I generally expect at this tier. Furthermore, there was no proper relaxing seat or armchair in the room—just a desk chair—making it hard to properly unwind after a long day out.
It is an okay place if you just need a clean bed to crash in, but don't expect cozy lounging amenities in the room or hotel. Spending a few extra per night will get you more bang for buck in same tier close by.

"The location is great. Definitely worth waking up early to walk around the hutongs nearby before dawn—highlight of our trip. The building is older and is due for an update, but is very clean and warm. I believe our room was upgraded from a double to a double deluxe room, which was very spacious."
