"The staff were very helpfull. The person on reception carried my case up for me. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The only problem I had was that I have leg problems and there is no lift. Because the hotel is 300 years old there is no way a loft could be installed. I'm glad I stayed there."

"The only 1 downside to our stay was the bathroom floor. It needs some maintains to repair a hole where it meets the corner of the bath. It made us a little weary of stay at the end of the bath when showering. Other than that our 2 night stay was great. We also eat in the restaurant, the food was delicious. 👍😁"

"We had an enjoyable stay at Ghillie Cottage. We received a welcome text from the owners and that together with the welcome goodies were much appreciated. The property was warm and comfortable and the kitchen contained all the necessary equipment we needed - including a wine fridge! However, the kitchen is very small and would benefit from some storage space for guests’ groceries. There is a wardrobe in the double bedroom but no hanging space in the second bedroom. The property is located close to local amenities and is in a quiet area with no passing traffic. Cockermouth has a lovely variety of independent shops - including two great shoe shops, a fantastic cookshop and a welcoming bookshop. This was our second stay in Cockermouth and we hope to return to Ghillie Cottage one day."
