About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Rustic cabin & large kitchen block nestled in a native garden.

Prairie Holm Farm is located along on the shores of Lake Wairarapa and stretches towards the rugged Remutaka Ranges. We are 13 km along Western Lake Road from Featherston township and 4km south of Cross Creek Road on the Remutaka Cycle Trail.

Cabins are nestled among five acres of regenerating native garden creating a peaceful retreat. The accommodation consists a two bedroom cabin block and separate lounge/kitchen block which is great for large groups.

The bathroom is a unique open "camping style" room attached to the lounge/kitchen block containing two toilets and two "wet floor" showers.

NOTE: There is no Wifi and Prairie Holm is a working Dairy, Sheep & Beef farm.

Featherston provides a wonderful array of quaint shops, cafe’s, a bakery, cheese shop and of course the famous Fell Locomotive Museum. On Saturday mornings there is a very popular fruit and vegetable market with fresh coffee and a local butcher on the BBQ.

Featherston Station has a rail service to Wellington and Masterton (bikes are welcome on the trains).

We are also within half an hour’s drive of Martinborough and Greytown if you’d prefer bustling boutique shops, vineyards, cafes and restaurants.

Ideal for our family
We loved our stay at the cabins! Clean, comfy, plenty of kitchen equipment, cosy fire, beautiful gardens and an enthusiastic welcome from a terrier! What more could we want? Thank you, Rach and Brad.

Lovely getaway
We loved our stay, we were kindly offered early check in and late checkout at no extra cost which was fabulous and meant that we could really make the most of a short break. The gardens are fantastic, filled with fantails and the call of ruru at night. We loved exploring and finding lots of surprises, and enjoyed a lengthy game of hide and seek! We loved the camping vibes of the separate sleeping block, and were warm and cosy with extra blankets and heaters, perfect after exploring in the rain. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed - including delicious coffee! Thanks to our hosts for a wonderful weekend!

Haven for Bikers and Trampers
The property was comfortable, spacious and had all the facilities that we needed. Over the long weekend it poured with rain but that didn't affect our ability to get out (and get wet!) and do what we had intended to do by way of tramping and biking, and that was due to the fact that we could come back to the accommodation and get dry, warm and relax. Thoroughly recommended, especially for bikers wanting to do the Rimutaka Cycle Trail.

Unique bush escape in the middle of farm land
Great amenities, kind owners. This is a bit like staying at a nice holiday park. One should be aware this is part of a working farm that operates 24 hours a day. We didn't hear people, but did hear machines. Lovely hosts, happy we stayed!
