With the continuation of COVID-19, traveling now comes with a few more challenges than usual. Take a look at these handy tips before boarding your flight to Western Alaska:

• Before committing to anything, check if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Get up-to-date information by checking government and travel websites.
• When you go through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be asked to lower it briefly for identification purposes. Travelers who refuse to wear a face mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the building.
• Do not hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA employee. Instead, position your pass on the reader and then hold it up to allow the agent to visually inspect it.
• You're allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on bag. This will need to be taken out for X-ray scanning.
• To reduce handling during the screening process, place personal items such as your belt, phone and wallet into your carry-on instead of into the bins.
• Separate any food you're carrying for screening. Putting it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA agent to handle and inspect your belongings.
