A nice comfortable retreat
Our family came up and stayed here for my sons graduation from URI. It was perfect for what we needed. There was six of us and we had plenty of room. The couches and beds were comfortable and everything we needed was provided. Really good location to the school and also very close to nice beaches which we had time to check out while we were there

We enjoyed our stay
Overall the home location was perfect, close to the beach and many local attractions. The cleanliness could be a bit improved in unseen corners, under the beds there was a lot of dust. The washing machine is a plus, because we could wash our towels. Some feedback I have is to clean the carpet on the stairs because it needed a subtle freshening. The couches were a bit worn, but a cover would help make it look newer. Overall this home was cute, location was great just some elements needed to be tweaked to make it perfect. We loved the fire pit area with porch, it was a nice way to spend time outdoors, with the mild temperatures.

Acceptable budget housing
For the price this VRBO is acceptable for people for whom the average offering is expensive. We were within 30 minutes of Mystic CT, Stonington, CT and Watch Hill RI. We had excellent meals in Mystic (The Mystic Diner for Sunday Brunch), the Breakwater in Stonington, CT for Saturday night dinner and dinner Sunday night at the Weekapaug Inn in Westerly, RI. Sunday shopping in Mystic was great. We stick to the shops along RTE 1 in Mystic rather than the Outlets along Rte 95 which were teaming with business. We are familiar with the area and found our lodging in Westerly acceptable. We did not use the kitchen for cooking although it was well equipped. The stairs between the two levels are very steep. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were very clean. We were disappointed not to be able to use the Amazon Flashstick provided with the 50 inch flatscreen TV in the living room. The hosts should have inspected this equipment because too late we discovered that there were no batteries in the Flashstick's remote control. No spare batteries could be found and even after having messaged the hosts, no further help was offered. It was the only complaint we had. After all, who carries spare batteries when traveling.?

Glad you enjoyed your stay. So sorry about the firestick remote, my fault. I usually check the remotes but forgot this one time. If I had known it was missing batteries I would have brought some right over.

Family vacation with two dogs
We had a nice vacation with our three children and two dogs. House had a very musty smell at check in, but with the windows open, it aired out overnight and was fine for the remainder of the week. The house was clean and had plenty of room for the 6 of us that stayed. The dishwasher did not work even after following the directions to reset the trip and to check the breaker. Not a big deal. Nice walk to the ocean lookout point- about a mile. The beach pass was great and got to use it a few times over the course of the week. Overall, a great week!

Decent Westerly Cottage
My family had an adequate stay at the beach cottage. The owner was easy to get in touch with prior to booking and being able to bring our dogs was a plus. Had I read the reviews prior, the steep stairs may have been a concern considering I have a father recovering from cancer treatment and a 6'9" partner, which made getting in and out of the house difficult. The price point is also a bit higher than other weekly rentals in the area, but having A/C*, linens that are provided, and access to a washer and dryer was nice. Had the owner informed me of the 10% discount for cash (a change listed after we booked), I would have been happy to oblige. *Suggestion: Bring fans to cool down the bedrooms at night. I would also like to point out that the "short 1 mile walk to the closest beach" is only accessible during the off-season. This was very misleading. The only beach you have access to during the summer months is over 2 miles away. We ended up driving and made the best of it but would have preferred walking.

Great family vacation
My husband and I had our 3 adult children with their spouse/significant others and 2 grandkids (10). It was a special time for us to spend together. Great location for beach, kayaking and biking. The beach pass made parking easy. The home is built into a hill so you can enter via either lower or upper level. Two bedrooms and a full bath plus kitchen and living room are on the upper level and 2 BR and bath on the lower level. The kitchen was fully open to the living room which we liked. The stairs are very steep so us older folks used the upper level front door. The front lawn is level enough for games such as corn hole or badminton. The bathrooms were nice and the home generally well maintained. There is AC though the upstairs bedrooms can get a bit warm when you close the door at night - you may want to bring a fan if it's mid summer and you like to sleep cooler. Would stay here again.

Great spot for family weekend

This place was just perfect for our needs. It was a quiet neighborhood and perfectly situated. We spent time in Mystic, went to the aquarium, went to Newport, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun.

BARE MINIMUM
This property met the minimal requirements for a stay - the beds and bathrooms and kitchen were there, and they were clean. Otherwise, this place lacks about everything else. The furniture was either non existent (no side tables, no coffee table, no lamps in family room, no rugs) or absolutely gross - three pieces in family room were so beat up and threadbare that we questioned whether we wanted to sit on them. There were 7 bath towels, all threadbare. There were linens in the dryer (which they told us about after our arrival), we could not get the dishwasher to work, the stairs leading to the basement level, where two bedrooms and one bath are located, are so narrow and steep that if you have anyone with ANY mobility issue, they would be considered unsafe. In short, this place is marginal at best. Wouldn't take much to make it even a little bit charming, but that effort has not been made. A cheesy motel would have been much cheaper and gotten us the same result.

Thanks for commenting on how clean the house was. I checked on the dishwasher, something tripped the GCFI on the outlet on the counter above the dishwasher. That usually happens if someone gets water on the outlet, its a safety feature. I pressed the reset button on the outlet and the dishwasher worked. Coffee table is a great idea and will put one in, thanks for the suggestion! The Good idea on the lamp, I will put one in. The steps are a 7 inch rise. The lower level has a walk in wheel chair accesable entrance with 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom with an oversized bath tub/shower. The front of the house has 2 steps to get into the front door to enter the main floor and is much easier to enter for elderly people. The main floor also has 2 bedroom and a full bathroom with a washer and dryer on that floor.

Perfect vacation with family
Perfect location to everything. The weather wasn’t the best but the beach was so close,, we did go. The house was big enough where we were all very comfortable, and it had everything we needed. We would definitely stay there again. Also, a nice big yard for the grandkids to play in.

Peaceful getaway
This was the perfect off season getaway spot for my family and 2 dogs. We were looking for something decent priced within driving distance to New York. The place smelled very clean upon arrival. You enter the house through the bottom floor and the stairs to go upstairs are quite steep for people traveling with children. There is also an entrance around the opposite side of the driveway which is actually the front of the house. We loved the open floor plan on the main level. Everything you need is there including laundry. We would definitely stay again.

The location of the home was really nice. Some concerns/issues: ants crawling all over the downstairs bathroom ceiling and in one of the bedrooms as well. Caked on dishes in dishwasher and in the cabinet? Ant traps in the beds? A real turnoff as far as cleanliness but we are certainly not neat freaks so wasn’t a dealbreaker.

Great location
The house was very spacious and had everything we needed. Some of the photos were outdated and don't show the current condition (severe wear on couches, damage on shelf in upstairs bathroom).There were a few things I didn't see in the description that I would've found helpful so I'm leaving these for anyone thinking about staying here. The "front" door to the house is perpendicular to the road and there is a u-shaped driveway that goes around the house. The photos show a small brown house that looks like it's next to you, but the house is behind you and there are other driveways on either side of the u-shaped driveway. We stayed in March and it was very quiet, but I imagine this could get busy and loud in the summer. Overall everything was very comfortable, but we did see and clean up a lot of dust bunnies, spider webs, crumbs, etc. and replaced multiple light bulbs when we were there. The house is generally taken care of but I think a few upgrades and some more cleaning would make a big difference.

Hi Lindsey, Thanks for the feedback! There is a small 2 bedroom house about 100 feet in back of the house which I also own. There is a neighbor about 200 feet to one side of the house and another neighbor about 500 fee from the other side. The neighborhood is very quiet. I screen guests and only allow 1 week minimum stays in the summer and 2 and 3 night minimums the rest of the year which removes the party crowd. Noted on the cleaning and will improve on that.

I always have such a wonderful stay here. The house is beautiful but still comfortable. The location is amazing the landscaping is beautiful. The Wi-Fi is super fast which I need for work as I am 100% remote. I liked watching TV here and caught up on the host Showtime and there’s also regular channels. I like how the host is so responsive to guest needs. Everything for your comfort is here. I also love that this host always has reasonable rates. Excellent housekeeping, pet friendly properties. My dog loves it here. We’re going back again soon.

Cozy and convenient
The house was as described and fit my family perfectly. It did take a bit of time for it warm up but once it did was comfortable. I would suggest a few more pans and serving dishes. It is difficult to adverise a house the sleeps 8+ and not be able to properly cook a meal for them. The location was great. Close to stores, restaurants and beaches. Even though it was December, we were able to go collect shells and sea glass because the weather was warmer than usual. All in all a good time.

Fantastic Location
Great location, a beautiful walk to the beach, and a nice outdoor space around the house. The stairs inside the house are extremely steep and difficult to maneuver for old and young. We walked to the front of the house to avoid using the inside stairs. Nice property, very humble and unfussy. It was a great weekend.

Quiet comfortable shoreline house
Spent a week with family of 6 at this comfortable house, biking distance to beach. The main floor was open, airy and sun-filled. The finished basement (entry with 2 bedrooms and bath) had less light and air exchange although had proper ventilation. Steep steps to the main floor were fine for the younger folk. For the eldsters it was good exercise. We would happily return.

Great Getaway!

House was dirty and in need of repair. The furniture in family room is worn and very uncomfortable. We were greeted with a wet dirty rag on the armchair, and linens and towels in the dryer and a musty, moldy smell in the downstairs portion of the home. Beds were not made up. Sheets were worn and some had rips. Towels were old and worn out, what I would recycle to use for cleaning my car. No laundry detergent or dish soap in unit with check out instructions to wash and dry all towels and dishes bed checking out. Floor was dirty, dust bunnies, cobwebs and disgusting pillows to lay your head on. We paid to stay Sunday- Thursday and emailed the owner at 11pm on Sunday night and left by 10am Monday morning. We had to find another place to stay. We called the owner on Monday when we left as we had not heard back from the owner and requested a refund for the days we did not stay and never heard a peep from them. Good luck to you and your family if you decide to stay here.

peace & quite 5min drive from beach
Perfect for peace & quiet to unwind with private beach access only 5 min drive. One of the cleanest & well stocked rentals I have ever seen and I rent several times a year! Only disappointment was listing wasn't updated that they no longer provide firewood for fire pit & fireplace. I specially looked for place with both to book. Owner made it right to me for my next stay. I will defiantly come back and gladly bring my own firewood next time.

Beautiful house in excellent area great hosts and property
This is my second time in this house and this property and these hosts are my favorite. The place is immaculately clean spacious and comfortable. The furnishings are really nice but you still feel like you’re in a home not a hotel which is awesome. The Wi-Fi is excellent for work or play. The house has great amenities and the hosts are available if you need anything. It’s a super easy check in and stay everything you could think of is here including really nice linens and towels and a fully stocked kitchen. The beds are super comfortable as are the couches and the TV is really nice over the fireplace. My dog loves it here too. I love walking to the nature sanctuary and the beach here. I’m looking forward to coming back again and again. I can’t wait to check it out in the summer the beach is absolutely stunning too.

Easy access to varioua places in Westerly
Overall this place was clean, easy to access, and was in a beautiful neighborhood. It is very close to all the fun attractions and interesting places in Westerly and nearby towns. Very accessable but quiet and relaxing. Couches and beds were pretty comfortable and the washer/dryer were excellent. Yard was big enough for kids and the dog and the neighbors were nice. The downstairs bedrooms were fun for the kids and we enjoyed having the tile floor to walk into when coming in from outside. We stayed in the winter! The sunsets were beautiful outside the picture window and the neighborhood was nice to walk in.

Beautiful house and property in a great area
I was very impressed with how clean comfortable and beautiful this house and property is and how lovely the area is near the beaches. The house is immaculate. The beds are super comfortable. The kitchen is actually stocked with pots and pans and things for you to cook with and a Keurig and regular coffee maker. The Wi-Fi is very fast and I used it for work very easily. The furniture is really nice and comfortable the couches in the living room were my favorite place to look out the big picture window at the nature preserve and the gorgeous sunsets and sunrises. The TV was great and I really like the big rainshowerhead in the upstairs bathroom. I enjoyed my stay so much I already booked the smaller house on the property to try out next. As other reviews have said this would be fantastic for a family reunion or a big group get together for a wedding or special occasion to rent both houses and I wanted to check them both out. Plus I like the area so much even in the winter time it’s beautiful here. The property is so nicely landscaped and the beaches are gorgeous.
