Worth it for the price

Beds are so comfy and hotel is really upscale - overlooking beautiful Canandaigua Lake.

The Strathallan is long overdue for a renovation. The hallways are dingy and you can smell the years. The “living room” furniture is akin to the sofas and chairs one might find at the curb on garbage night. The bathroom sinks are higher than “comfort height” and the counter is too deep to make washing, brushing or shaving comfortable. This might be okay for someone 6’ 5” with very long arms, but not for anyone near average height. The HVAC system is as loud as it is old and the terraces are eroding. The lobby, however, is bright and welcoming, as is the staff. The lobby bar is terrific. I can only hope that the transition from DoubleTree by Hilton to Tapestry by Hilton is done swiftly. For now, the rates for rooms here are outrageous considering the condition of the rooms.

Friendly staff from the moment we walked in. Clean spacious room. Grappa restaurant had terrific drinks and food!! Also friendly staff.
