DC Downtown Apt - Shaw Area

Very cute & clean! Perfect location for my stay in DC. Host was very responsive, which was greatly appreciated. Within walking distance to metro stations, grocery store, and bars/nightlife, if desired. Will definitely look to book for future trips to the DC area.

Decent studio apartment

The place was clean and nice. Great location , could walk to national mall. I didn’t get WiFi instructions until I asked. There was a smell in the couch, maybe the couch beneath the cover needs to be cleaned?

We did not stay and contacted VRBO (case number 153328626) to let them know it was a bait and switch. The property was wholly different from the photos and description on the website. The layout, furnishings, and amenities were not as described. We left immediately and had to find other accommodations late at night. We expect to be refunded as this was a scam.

This apartment was perfect for my purposes. I needed a place for myself for the week and for my daughter for one night before she started her summer program. Two people could stay here very comfortably, but a third person would start to make it too crowded since the only bathroom is located in the bedroom. This apartment is very close to the the Metro (subway) stop and made it super convenient for me to travel all over D.C. A few blocks south is Giant grocery store which helped me stock the full size fridge for my stay. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice location amongst the neighborhood. Advice for other guests: coordinate with the host PRIOR to your arrival to obtain check-in instructions. Check the status of fixtures as soon as you enter, so that discrepancies may be communicated to the hose ASAP. I discovered that although “no smoking” is permitted in the house, it wreaked of the odor, the shower heads fixture was loose, & a towel rack in the bathroom was broken.

We were put in a completely different unit! Absolutely nothing like the pictures, EXTREMELY misleading. When I asked if we were in the wrong place he said they “redecorated” When I pointed out it’s a completely different layout he then admitted we were in a different unit. Feces on the bathroom wall, urine around wobbly toilet. Bed had a broken spring or bar running through it vertically, making it feel like you’re on a foldout couch. Not comfortable at all. Bed linens and bath linens were extremely low quality. 1 thin blanket total, no extra linens. Despite the no smoking sign it’s very clear someone has smoked in unit long term. Parking in front of building is VERY costly. Parking garage 3/4 blocks away was the better option.

This unit is not the unit pictured on the Expedia site. It is the same address which is a multi floor building. Our unit was in the basement. Could not open blinds as there was so much foot traffic there would have been no privacy. The one bedroom window was sealed on plastic probably duecto the fact that yhere were fifteen cans of garbage in front of it. The unit was unpleasantly odorous and there was an attempt made to mask this withseveral strong odor air fresheners that was overwhelming to me with alergies and my asthmatic husband. We wrapped thesr in garbage bags during our stay. The toilet is wobbly and the shower backs up . Had to wash hair in kitchen sink as water filled so quickly in the tub. The kitchen was tolerable after I washed down greasy stove with a facecloth as there was nothing in kitchen to clean it with. The air vents filthy and some exposed wiring. No lock on outside gate. This was a very disappionting stay that was so near the mall and public transportation as we came to visit that area specifically but was so glad to leave at the end of our visit. The owner should not be allowed to falsley advertise this unit on Expedia, which I had always trusted on previous travels.
