About this property
The Old Gatehouse, Little Walsingham, Norfolk
A fine example of a Grade II listed timber framed house, The Old Gatehouse oozes character, style and charm in abundance and offers a unique and rather special place to stay. Located in the stunning medieval village of Little Walsingham, the combination of being surrounded by the charm of a historic village while being just a ten minute drive away from the beautiful Norfolk coastline at Wells-next-the-Sea is hard to resist.
Dating back to 1560, The Old Gatehouse has undergone extensive renovations while still preserving its many original features such as exposed stonework, original beams and flagstone floors. It's a truly enchanting place to stay and brings the allure of the past into the present day. On entering the cottage through it's distinctive yellow front door, you are welcomed into an entrance hall with a snug vibe tempting you to explore the house further. There's the cosy ambience of a relaxing sitting room featuring a large inglenook fireplace with a warming wood burning stove, a light-filled dining room that offers a tranquil view of the garden creating a lovely atmosphere for shared meals and gatherings. In between the two, a well-equipped kitchen and adjoining utility and shower room provide convenience and functionality. Upstairs, four beautifully presented bedrooms - two king-size, one twin (which can be made into a king-size bed on request) and a bunk room - are supported by two bathrooms. Full access to the walled garden allows guests to unwind and enjoy the outdoor dining when the days are warm.
With its rich heritage and carefully preserved original features, The Old Gatehouse provides a captivating setting for visitors to immerse themselves in the essence of the historic village. From the inviting common areas, the beautifully presented bedrooms and access to the walled garden, this retreat promises a memorable stay for guests seeking a truly atmospheric and unforgettable holiday experience. Equally suited to couples, friends and families, the benefit of numerous facilities within the village - good pubs, tea rooms, a popular farm shop, a fish and chip shop, a handy convenience store and an array of interesting independent shops - means everything is on hand should you decide not to venture too far. When you want to get out and about exploring this wonderful area of North Norfolk, there are so many attractions within easy reach, you will be spoilt for choice.

We were fortunate to have lovely sunny weather all week and so were able to sit in the beautiful garden. Great food venues nearby and places to walk. A brilliant base for exlploring the coast.
