COVID-19 may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't halted our zest for exploring. Here are some tips on how to tackle the new challenges of traveling:

• Before committing to anything, check if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Stay informed with the latest updates by checking government websites.
• You must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at screening checkpoints. You should be prepared to lower your mask to verify your identity when asked by a TSA officer.
• Rather than handing a TSA agent your boarding pass, place it directly on the scanner yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• You are now allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on bag. You'll have to remove it for X-ray screening.
• Remove personal items from your pocket, like your wallet and phone, and put them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• Separate any food you're carrying for X-ray scanning. Food items often trigger the alarm. Putting them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA employee to handle and inspect your belongings.
