Had to leave after first night.

If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay then this is a good spot but if you care about comfort, hygiene and cleanliness DO NOT STAY HERE! The ceiling in the bathroom was covered in mold. The pillows were rock hard because of the terrible mold inside of them. I stayed one night and got the hell out of there as soon as I could! The bathroom was dirty, the sheets were stained and the smell of mold and rotting was extremely strong that I was worried for my health. The staff is friendly and the location is pretty good but I would not recommend staying here, happy I got my money back.

Very homely homestay, set in their lovely ornate garden with their birds tweeting! The room is fine, and even has a hot shower! Each day, a flask of tea (or perhaps coffee if chosen) is put out ready on your porch (a thoughtful gesture) and you just let them know when you are ready for breakfast- the breakfast varies each day so it is not monotonous. A haven in Ubud!

Auf jeden Fall einen Raum mit Klimaanlage buchen!

Das Zimmer war sehr klein, aber ausreichend für ein paar Tage, da man in Ubud eig. eh fast den ganzen Tag unterwegs ist! Es war jedoch sehr dunkel, das Bett nicht sonderlich bequem das Bad grenzwertig und ohne eigenes richtiges Waschbecken! Wir hatten leider nur einen Ventilator im Zimmer, wodurch es in der Nacht extrem heiß und schwül wurde! Die Zimmer ohne Klimaanlage würde ich dort definitiv nicht buchen! Die Anlage an sich ist sehr schön und die Leute freundlich! Jedoch sollte man Touren oder Shuttle/Taxifahrten selbstständig organisieren, da sie dort vollkommen überhöhte Preise verlangen! Das Frühstück war ok, aber wenig abwechslungsreich. Wir haben eig. jeden Tag Bananentoast und ein wenig Obst bekommen...

Bra och lugnt!

Vi stannade hos Nick's homestay i två nätter och var väldigt nöjda med deras service och den lugna fina bakgården man bor på. En liten oas bakom den trafikerade gatan. Vi hade dock otur och tajmade in vår vistelse med övningarna till deras nyårsparad vilket innebar att de repade med trummor i byggnaden bredvid till midnatt varje kväll. Om ni vill kunna sova, åk inte hit veckorna före 8 mars ;) Inte så fräscht badrum och man får räkna med myror. Annars toppen!

Not happy by the treatment of the hotel to birds

The grounds are lovely apart from all the caged birds. There are at least 15 of them living in really small cages. There is a bird near the reception which although not caged was chained by it's ankle, and when we arrived it looked very distressed and was gnawing at the chain. As an animal lover I found all of this very off putting. I believe there should be a warning when booking about all of this. For further information regarding the injustice of keeping caged birds there is plenty of information on the internet including on the PETA website. Also, the room smelled really bad as if the bedding hadn't been washed properly, and my girlfriend was unable to sleep because of this. Wifi was poor, but okay for the price paid. Sad about the birds and the smell because if those problems were addressed it could be a lovely place.

Nick's Homestay is a real gem

I stayed at Nick's Homestay twice. I came back the second time because I enjoyed my first visit so much. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast scrumptious. This is within walking distance to most everything in downtown Ubud.

Belles chambres, auberge bien placée. Petit déjeuner inclus, pas mauvais. Le ménage n'a cependant pas été fait tous les jours, mais les chambres sont propres. Belle salle de bain avec baignoire. Relativement calme la nuit, quelques coqs.

Just ok

The Homestay was well located and in walking distance to many restaurants, yoga studios, cultural performances, etc. Guests staying at Nick's homestay can use the pool at Nick's pension (15-20 walk). Nick's pension is much nicer and having a pool to dunk into after spending a day in the sweltering heat is a real treat. Nick's homestay is their first location. The rooms were old and needed maintenance. They could also be cleaned better. The washrooms started to smell after the 2nd day. If you are looking for a cheap hostel like room this would be fine. If you are looking for something a bit better i would recommend looking at other homestays.

Nice homestay in Ubud area

I stay there for 2 nights. I am not quite comfortable with the bed. It is quite hard. The toilet is clean but have bad odors. However, the staffs are very warm and nice. They are really helpful. I also like the breakfast. Thanks

A Homestay must

I stayed at Nick's for four days then went away and came back for another 4 days. The staff here are really friendly. The property is beautiful and the location is awesome - I walked everywhere

A Slice of Balinese Life

This boutique hotel has 11 guest rooms located within a traditional Balinese style compound, which comprises a family temple and living quarters for an extended family of three generations - and they do still live in the compound. There are ornate shrines (typical of Balinese homes), ancient bird cages, a couple of dogs running loose, children heading off to school in the morning, the matriarch making offerings every couple of days. Sometimes the family sits in the outdoor "sala" at the center of the compound and watch television or chat. So it really is a home stay, and you get to see a slice of Balinese life. The architecture and grounds are beautiful. I arrived at night, and I was blown away when I awoke the next morning and discovered just how beautiful the grounds were. The rooms are simple, but the bed was comfortable. They have front porches, where you are served a simple breakfast in the morning. Beer is sold at reception. Overall, good value for money. The bathrooms might disappoint. There are ceiling fans but no air conditioning, telephone, or television. The location is excellent - lots of cafes, boutiques, and day spas nearby as well as an excellent supermarket. Also a couple of bars.
