The Space:

The Birdhouse blends 1960s and 1970s style with the high desert, with interiors by an HGTV designer. It sits between downtown Joshua Tree and Twentynine Palms, just outside the Indian Cove entrance to the national park. The property has two open-concept buildings: the main house with the living room, Viking kitchen, dining area and a king sleeping area, and a game room bunkhouse with a second king area and full-size bunks, all on memory foam. The fully privacy-fenced backyard has a container pool with a viewing window, a hot tub, a pickleball court and a fire pit, with panoramic desert views beyond. -Outdoor Amenities-

The fully privacy-fenced backyard is the centerpiece of the property. The converted shipping container pool has a viewing window and a sun deck, and there is a six-person hot tub, a pickleball court, cornhole, a gas fire pit and a gas grill, plus several dining and lounging areas with panoramic desert views. Dark skies make for excellent stargazing.



-Living Area-

The main house has an oversized sectional and a smart TV hidden in a custom vintage-style cabinet. The game room bunkhouse has a regulation pool table, two large-screen TVs, a record player with a vinyl collection and board games. A mounted iPad controls lighting, climate and music throughout the property, also from your phone by QR code, and Bluetooth speakers are available.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The stylish kitchen has Viking appliances, cookware, utensils, spices and oils. A Nespresso machine, a drip coffee maker and assorted teas are provided. Outdoor dining seats eight.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

The Birdhouse has two open-concept buildings. The main house includes a king sleeping area, and the game room building has a second king area and a bedroom with two full-size bunk beds. Please review the layout to make sure it suits your group. All beds have memory foam mattresses, and the bathrooms have rain showers and quality bath products.

Más o Menos coffee and bar and Indian Cove Campground and hiking trails are the easy outings from The Birdhouse. Downtown Joshua Tree, downtown Twentynine Palms, Tortoise Rock Casino and the park's North Entrance round out the map.

Getting Around:

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



The home is down dirt roads, so please take it slow. Four-wheel drive is not necessary, but roads often have ruts, particularly after rain. Parking is available for up to six vehicles: two in the front driveway and more alongside the home.



Other Things to Note:

-EV Charger-

There is no fee to charge your electric vehicle. The charger is a Level 2 port (240V, 40A, J1772). Tesla drivers need to bring the J1772 adapter that came with the car.



-Pest and Trash Service-

Our pest technician sprays the exterior monthly, scheduled when guests are out where possible. The trash bin is to the right of the main house; pickup is every other Monday.



-House-Specific Rules-

► Any unauthorized late check-out beyond the 15-minute grace period will incur a $100 fee for the first hour, with an additional $100 charged for every hour thereafter.

► Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM.

► There is parking for up to six vehicles.

► Any locked closet, room or storage area on the property is reserved for rental supplies and is off limits to guests. Guests may be held responsible for damage or missing items if a locked area is entered.

► Please avoid using the hot tub right after it has been serviced, while chemical levels are temporarily higher.



-Pool Heating Fee-

Should you wish to have the pool heated to 85 degrees, please notify us in advance of your arrival, as there will be a supplemental charge per day for this service due to high fuel costs in this area. If you'd like the pool heated for multiple days, we ask that days be consecutive to conserve energy, thank you! Pool heating is not usually necessary May through September. Please note that we will need at least 24 hours' notice to heat the pool.



► May through September: $100 per night, if needed

► October and April: $100 per night

► November through March: $150 per night



During the winter months, please be aware that colder outdoor temperatures may cause the pool to feel cooler than its maintained temperature of 85°F. We kindly ask that you ensure this temperature meets your comfort level before submitting a request, as refunds cannot be issued on this basis.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The pool is serviced Monday and Thursday mornings through the side gate to respect your privacy. Arrival times may vary. High winds occasionally blow sand into the pool between visits.



-Pet Policy-

Pets are not permitted at this property. Unauthorized pets will result in a $500 fee.

-Wildlife & Safety-

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.

For your security, there are exterior cameras on the property, which monitor vehicles and occupancy. There are no cameras inside the home or facing any private areas, including the pool and hot tub areas.



-Cell Service-

Cell phone coverage in the area may be limited or unavailable depending on your carrier. Wi-Fi is available at the property.



-Damage Waiver Policy-

Each reservation requires either a refundable security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver.
