Agricultural landscape with windmill and Cistern at Armand Bayou Nature Park in Pasadena, Texas, USA
A rural wetlands part of my hometown, in suburban Houston! Taken in December. And my 1st ever post here of my hometown. You've seen my travel photos and you've seen my new city Kirov, Russia. So here is suburban Houston :). And some of the beautiful wetlands and marshes! I grew up and lived almost all my life in the crowded suburbs, but this park is a quite rural and isolated part! Quite idyllic :). It's at the Armand Bayou Nature Center in southeast Houston. I was home for the holidays and my dad and I went to the park :). I haven't been to this park in many years! It's surreal how much wilderness is here, as it's in the middle of a typical American suburb. Albeit one with a lot of history and economic importance (NASA, oil refineries, etc).. It was a peaceful late autumn walk! Even though it is technically the winter season ;). But autumn begins & finishes late here!

And I love the scene here with the red marsh! One of my favorite parts of the park! And so much other great wetlands! The 2,500-acre (10 km2) nature center is the largest urban wilderness preserve in the United States. Founded in 1974, the center consists of a boardwalk through forest and marshes, live animal displays, bison and prairie platforms and butterfly gardens.
