A very comfortable hotel in a good location in Takachiho. Walking distance to everything in town including the Takachiho Shrine, the gorge, and the local market. Rooms are large compared to usual Japanese hotels and have storage space for luggage or clothes. Lighting is good. Other breakfast options besides the full buffet would be welcome or even just coffee/tea in the restaurant. There is a nice patio in front for relaxing. Staff were very professional and helpful.

The property was more like a business hotel setting with a small room. If you're looking for Japanese experience, it's not a property for you. However, it was fairly new and clean, the staff was very friendly, and the service was awesome! Our reservation didn't include dinner or breakfast, but we were able to add breakfast for ¥1500 per person at the check in. We didn't add dinner because there were plenty of restaurants near the hotel to close from. The front desk staff provided us with a map of all restaurants in the area. The breakfast there was a buffet style with basic Japanese items such as rice, miso soup, grilled fish, natto, tofu, etc. Not too spectacular, but it was fair. One last thing - the hotel is not a walking distance from the gorge for average American people.

Simple, clean, quiet, no frills. We found it is best to visit Takachiho Gorge after the day trippers have left. In summer you can see the gorge without the ubiquitous boats after 4.30pm.

Our stay was amazing. The staff did everything they could to accommodate us and ensure we were satisfied with everything. Out of all the staff, one stood out to us; he was the only one who spoke English and was always available to speak with us since we don’t know any Japanese. He was extremely helpful through our entire stay. The food at the restaurant was very tasteful and amazing as well.

It wants to be a fancy hotel with fancy rates. Yet the bathroom smelled disgusting (moldy smell) and i squished a bug on the sheets. It left a bloody mark. The underside of the duvet had spots and also a previously squished bug mark. I have photos. I immediately moved all my luggage to the hard floor part by the entrance. I wanted to change to a different hotel but nothing was available at no notice within my price range. I slept in my clothes, then bagged them and threw them away.

Wonderful Stay at Solest Takachiho
Solest is located on the main street of Takachiho, very convenient to walk to main attractions & food or cafes. Dinner & Breakfast in Solest is not only delicious, but very beautiful & so well presented.

Hotel is less than 5-minute drive from the Takachiho Gorge. Hotel is nice & cosy with parking facility. Small room but complete with amenities. Mountain view is facing some houses.. Nearby has eatery options.

Service was excellent and everyone is very friendly. Room is fantastically cleaned and very comfortable to stay in. Overall, it is one of the best hotels I have stayed in my trip. Parking is free. Highly recommend.

The brand new and modern hotel in Takachiho. Free parking and drive within 5 min to Takachiho George and popular Japanese food restaurants nearby. But have to early to reserve or queue up before 18:00, otherwise you will be noticed that’s the last order.

1st night wifi cannot link, too noisy outside and was told no air cond, so very stuffy. 2nd night mattress full of mites . Hot water supply either too hot or too cold , cannot control in-between. Is not worth at all for the price!

Clean, new and friendly hotel.
New and clean. Room size is decent for what I paid. Water pressure for shower is strong. Free WiFi works well, there is hair dryer, there is no water leakage to the floor from the shower booth (happens often in many hotels), there was a English speaking trainee who was kind and helpful. Ikezaki san at front desk was helpful for recommending restaurants for dinner. Hotel is close to most of the tourist spots of Takachiho area, walking distance. (Nearby takachiho temple) I rented a car from Airport and that will probably be a better idea to come Takachiho as some famous spots are a bit far off and can’t walk from the city center. Famous takachiho Beef restaurant “Nagomi” is good for lunch, “Hidari-Uma” is a good izakaya with good food but no English menu. Both walking distance from this hotel. Local convince stores are around too. Free-parking. Breakfast buffet at JPY 1,100++ per person and reservation required.

Staff were very helpful. We did not speak the language but the staff is prepared to deal with foreign travelers. The hotel desk answered all our questions about places to eat and directions to local sites. it was great.

The hotel was great, and very comfortable. Services were fabulous and staff very nice. Local area is limited, and most restraunts close by 7pm or are sold out of premium food selection. Would recommend renting a car to get to hotel location, unless you are ok with a three plus hour bus ride or and expensive taxi.
