So, the Marsh Farm of old is not the Marsh Farm of today… that’s probably the nicest thing I can say at this point. The only other indicator I would give is both do NOT take your socks off in the bedroom, and watch “Bird on a Wire” before going into the bathroom… it’s not quite at that level, but it’s not too far off.

Very dirty room, we couldnt close the door and windows, there were alot of dust all around the room and the carpet, the room smells really bad. It is a disgusting hotel.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Should not be allowed on Expedia. Room smelled of cigarettes. Carpet had stains all over it. Hadn’t been vacuumed. Avoid !!!

Even booked a budget hotel I'd expect a certain level of cleanliness, the room we were in was dirty, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, the floor was grotty, bathroom door didn't shut, hole in the one wall, wallpaper peeling off ,such a shame as I can see it was once a nice place! The lady on reception however was lovely and provided us with a hairdryer, a pillow and a fan minutes after requesting them .

Unique….pretty awful impression. I arrived for breakfast on Sunday at just past 9.00 am and it is not done after 9. No sign in rooms to say. We are not all glued to our phones. Carpet in room not good enough. £92 per night just doesn’t excuse the poor standard. Renovation…..a lick of paint when poor overworked staff can do. Owned by a guy who owns a lot of properties and doesn’t give 2 hoots about Marsh Farm and it could be SO charming. Shame on the owner letting it go to rack and ruin. Probably trying to make a huge profit and sell to builders. Friends married there not so long ago and it was lovely then. Virtually no staff and expected to do everything. Probably for buttons. Some kind staff member did put out some food for breakfast, God bless their decency. R Mann

The bathroom was a disgrace. Grubby, poorly maintained, flooring and panels were heavily water damaged. A small leak from wash basin. Decor was grubby. The main bedroom was more like being in a hostel. Expedia should not be including this facility!

Rooms were a poor standard, 240 volt cables pull too tight that coulb be a fire hazard waiting to happen. The bath needs to be scrubbed to make it half decent and the same for the toilet that was a disgrace.

Bed was comfy,unfortunately woken at 2.30am by an argument outside my door,with lots of shouting, threats and swearing. Room was ok,limescale around shower and crack in the bath. No signal on the TV. Breakfast was ok.

I booked last minute but was then concerned by more recent reviews. Travelling with my wife I had trepidation which proved entirely without foundation as all was absolutely fine. From the most entirely charming lady on the reception desk to opening the room door it was immediately obvious I had by chance chosen very well. It's a great looking old country house, lots of character. Perhaps many reviewers want perfection: personally I would suggest soaking up character. The room warm, bathroom impeccable, all good. One to remember as far a I'm concerned.

Sadly this time the room left a lot to be desired. Firstly the room was like a cauldron, with a dormer style window, that could only be open about 5 inches. Pooped to reception as the television wasn't working, I had fried auto tune and everything (I'm no tech dummy) and no luck I asked the guy on the desk, he tried and failed to, we did secure a fan though. I was told that I would get a breakfast thrown in , I did mention straight away that I would be leaving before breakfast started, so I didn't get that offer in the morning Then on to the shower, it didn't work, and even if it did the shower would be perfect for those who were 4ft 6. No water came out of the shower head so sadly another fail I did give the hotel chance to answer these issues prior to this review, but got blanked, So bad review time Won't be going back
