We arrived on a cloudy so the building was dark and gloomy. The apartment was clean but lacked any charm and the living area consisted of a sofa facing a wall and the dining room/kitchen was very dated. The “stove” was in reality, not a stove, it was just a cooktop and since there was no microwave, our ability to cook was very limited. Also on the first afternoon/evening the breaker tripped twice and I had to go down to the first floor and search out the unmarked breaker box in order to turn the power back on. After talking with Mario we figured out that we could only use two heaters at one time without tripping the breaker, likewise the use of the hairdryer meant that the heaters should be turned off. The bathrooms were nice and clean and one of the showers was very nice and larger than normal and we had enough hot water for two showers in the evening or morning. We did experience a couple of nights of loud noise from the apartment above us, the floors are apparently pretty thin. The apartment was located at the top of a short but very steep hill which was a challenge at the end of the evening. At the bottom of the hill was a nice local mini market that was convenient. Also the apartment was very convenient to the main part of Sorrento and it’s many restaurants and shops as well as only a short walk to the harbor.
Other than the electrical issue, the outdated look and the lack of any seating other than the sofa and wood dining chairs the apartment met our basic needs. Mario was always prompt to respond to my questions and quickly offered us our choice of a couple of different units due to the electrical issue but we chose to stay where we were. As I said, the apartment was clean, pretty well located but is missing an oven or microwave oven and really needs an updated look but the electrical issue is a serious issue that I don’t know that can be corrected due to the wiring. We enjoyed our time in Sorrento and had no continuing problems but I believe we would find a different place if we return to Sorrento.
