Located approximately half a mile (800 meters) off the shore of Singapore is Sentosa, a luxury resort island with a number of world-class attractions. The island is family friendly and has a diverse array of attractions including theme parks, rides, animal exhibits and historical museums.
Catch a cable-car from downtown to get to the island. You will land on one of the highest points on Sentosa, Imbiah Lookout. Head straight into Images of Singapore and discover the fascinating history of the country with multimedia displays. Nearby, wander among hundreds of butterflies, ride the luge or jump onto the Tiger Sky Tower and rise up 430 feet (131 meters) for stunning views across the island and sea. Another place to enjoy the views is from the mouth of the giant Merlion, just a short walk from the Imbiah Lookout.
Spend a morning relaxing on Sentosa’s 1.2 miles (two kilometers) of protected beach, one of the most relaxing beach experiences in Singapore. While not the best swimming beach in the area, the beach offers beautiful white sand and beachfront dining. Nearby explore some of the area's World War II history at Fort Siloso.
Golfers should head to the Sentosa Golf Club to spend some time on the links. There are two 18-hole championship courses and a luxury clubhouse.
Get close to stingrays, sharks, turtles and dolphins at the Underwater World and Dolphin Lagoon. Enjoy an afternoon at Universal Studios Singapore, one of the most popular theme parks in Asia.
Sentosa is less than one mile (one kilometer) from Singapore’s downtown district. You can reach the island via monorail or bus from the VivoCity Center. A fun way to get there is to catch a cable-car from Mount Faber or from the Harbourfront Centre. Sentosa can be visited daily however, some attractions keep their own hours. Admission is included in your public transportation costs.
