Amazing stay!
We had such an awesome stay at the Shawnee Apple Shack. It was so cute, clean, and had everything that we needed! There was plenty to do in the Southern Illinois area for the weekend. We definitely recommend staying there and would love to come back sometime!
We had a lovely relaxing trip. Our main focus was hiking but due to a heatwave we had to switch to early morning walks and more relaxing. It was cooler in the evening and the hot tub was the perfect place to star gaze. The screened in porch was great for breakfast. Space is limited for gourmet meals but simple meals are very doable. The listing does note the bed is in the loft and you have to climb to it. This is true, but I’m a mobile 50 year old and was able to do it easily. My only negative is not enough places to hang towels. There were 2 hooks in the bathroom and that worked but once you added swimsuits and beach towels and needing to hang the couple of dresses I brought not many places besides hanging over chairs. Was close to hiking, wineries, Paducah and Metropolis, all places we wanted to visit. Definitely will book again, when a little cooler and not so hot.
The Apple Shack was the perfect getaway. Property is well-maintained and very clean. Communication with the host was easy, open, and helpful. The grill and kitchenette were just right. We prepared all our meals right there. The hot tub and sky views were the highlights. Definitely recommend!
Perfect for a quiet, getaway weekend. In the middle of it all in regard to hiking around Shawnee National Park. Absolutely loved the fire pit, which was stocked with wood. Hot tub was great for relaxing after hiking all day. Would recommend for any couple that enjoys the outdoors, or a couple like us that just wanted to get away from Chicago for a few days.
