Friendly staff, spacious room, but weird ambiance

Booked Hotel Louize because there were no other hotels available on a holiday weekend. We were a group of friends that booked the 1 standard bed and 1 twin bed. The location was very convenient, the staff was very nice (but did not speak english), and the room was spacious for South Korea. However, the ambiance was extremely weird - old building, small hotel (~35 rooms), hallways and rooms painted black, eerie decor and mirrors. It felt a little bit creepy as the building was old, elevator was tiny, and there was only one window that was "crank open." The hotel also did not exist on google maps, though it did on Naver with very limited information. Despite this, the staff was very accommodating when we asked for extra blankets, pillows, etc. They also held a lost item we went back for the next day, so no issues with the service. The room and mirrors were all very clean and is made up of old brick walls and black paint. It was roomy enough for 3 people and the bathroom was spacious as well. I probably wouldn't stay here again just because of the vibes, but the hotel would work for a budget stay or if nothing else is available.

I reserved two rooms for my family. We checked in at midnight but rooms weren't ready. We waited one hour for them to have one room ready. The other room was ready at 2:30 am. One room smelled like urine, the other room smelled like smoke. Front desk clerk left one room open with the key in the room. He called us and told us to just go to the room. Stairs were blocked by cleaning cart. I felt very unsafe and I showed my kids where and how to exit in case of emergency. Only two small towels in the bathroom. This hotel is love hotel. We didn't know because we came from US. Terrible experience with kids. They didn't even apologize for having the rooms not ready. I had to chase down the front desk clerk to see if the rooms were ready. The front desk clerk was cleaning the room. Please don't go. Expedia needs to take this hotel off the list. I paid over $300.00 US dollars per room per night. Awful experience...having PTSD over this stay.
