We really enjoyed our stay at this property. We wanted an older home that gave us that historic Savannah feel and this home delivered! It was plenty big enough for myself, my husband, my brother, his wife, and their 2 kids (ages 4 and 7). The only problems we had were minor ones. The kitchen was incredibly hot as it was summer when we visited and the AC in most of these older homes isn't great. The home does provide a box fan, which was necessary to be able to spend any amount of time in the kitchen. That being said, we also needed the box fan while sleeping since some of the larger rooms' window air conditioning units weren't enough, so it would have been nice to have more of those box fans so someone could cook breakfast comfortably while someone else slept in. Maybe bring an extra one if you are worried about the temperature. Also, the back stairs are treacherous! Dark, slippery when wet, not evenly spaced, and weakened in spots. The home does have front stairs so we used those primarily and I'd recommend everyone else do the same whenever possible. The 2nd bathroom of the house has a tricky door handle which made it very difficult at times to get into the bathroom from the hallway. It was fine for adults and during the day, but the children struggled and at night, it was difficult to enter the bathroom without making a lot of noise or fumbling with the doorknob for 2-3 minutes (I'm not exaggerating. That doorknob really was not cooperating.) Last, while the neighborhood felt safe in large numbers, I would have felt less safe if it was just me and my female friends or if there were fewer of us or if we were coming home late. There was also some trash and a huge amount of broken glass on and around the sidewalks in various spots around the home so walking the dog and letting the kids walk independently was tough. That's not really the home's fault though. We'd definitely consider staying there again with a few minor adjustments.
