The cabin was extremely clean and very comfortable.

We would highly recommend staying in this cabin, especially if you're a small family. Absolutely beautiful surroundings and you'll find everything you need to have a very relaxing and peaceful vacation.

Wonderful home!

We had such a fantastic time at Dodie's place. It is so well designed, super clean and stocked with everything we needed. The furniture, the bed and the layout of the home is superb. Not to mention the gardens and hot tub. I would highly recommend this home and would rent again if we come back to this area. Thank you Dodie!

Cozy Retreat Under the Stars

This is the perfect place to stay if you want to be out in nature but close to Santa Fe, NM. Dodie’s home is comfortable, well stocked with everything you need, and gives you privacy to completely relax while you’re there. Our host was very responsive when we had questions. Her place is beautiful with lots of flowers and hummingbirds in the yard. We enjoyed it!

Great house

The house was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The location was perfect for for getting to explore the local mountains. We hiked at holy ghost creek and the sante fe national forest near the ski slope. It was great to take a long soak in the hot tub after the long hike.

Santa Fe retreat

We were lucky enough to stay in Dorothy’s charming retreat outside Santa Fe. Filled with lovely folk art, it has a wonderfully peaceful feeling. We enjoyed the hot tub under the stars. Close enough to Santa Fe to go for dinner or the sites but far enough away to be another world. Would recommend highly for a romantic relaxing stay.

Awesome views of the night sky

It was very nice to sit out on the patio and look up and see the Milky Way in the late evenings. The hot tub was a very special treat.

Wonderful Location!

We had a wonderful time and this property was the perfect getaway. It felt secluded and serene, but also was a short, pleasant drive to any restaurant or other destination. We would absolutely stay here again on any future trips to Santa Fe! Dorothy was helpful and communicative. Thank you for a wonderful home away from home!

A beautiful, cozy home! Perfect place to celebrate our Anniversary!

We loved the house! Had all the necessities we needed. Truly enjoyed the hot tub, while listening to the birds, enjoying the beautiful scenery. Bed was very comfortable and loved all the interesting Knick knacks and house decor. Home wasn’t far from other attractions in Santa Fe. Perfect place to get away and relax. We definitely would reserve this place again.

Cozy home nestled in the mountains with wildlife abounding!

Our kid free getaway landed right on the weekend of a spring snow storm. Fortunately, this house was PERFECT! We stayed warm inside while we caught up on our favorite shows and warm outside in the hot tub. This was our first Homeaway trip and the owner was extremely helpful and accommodating. This home will definitely be our go to home for Santa Fe! Although the snow was beautiful, we are looking forward to checking out some of the nearby trails next time.

Beautiful Property in a Peaceful Environment

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend trip and had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful; well-appointed, comfortable, and stylish. It seems Dorothy has thought of everything to make for a memorable stay. It's in a very quiet and peaceful area. We particularly enjoyed the natural light inside the house and the serenity of the outdoor areas, which were a treat for us as amateur bird watchers. Dorothy was friendly and very communicative. Check-in and -out were very easy. We'd gladly stay here again. - Josh

Just what we needed!!

We loved everything about or stay! It felt like a private getaway even though we were within a short drive to everything we wanted to do. The hot tub was most enjoyable under the stars. Dorothy is a gracious host providing everything we needed, plus a few extras that were much appreciated like coffee grounds and fresh cream. Truly we felt at home. We appreciate a clean home and this was it!! Very well taken care of. We wish we could have stayed longer!!!

Cool, beautiful and peaceful

We stayed at Dodie's place for a week in the middle of July when it was in the 90s in Santa Fe. It was much cooler in the mountains and so beautiful. Quick drive to Santa Fe and surrounding areas, but we spent as much time enjoying the time away from everything watching the fauna come to the fountain and smell the fresh air. Dodie was great! We'd love to come back in the fall next time to catch the seasonal change. Very relaxing!

Tranquil indeed

This stay will stay with me for a long time. It was so lovely and restorative. My husband and I stayed- found our flow pretty quickly. Time out in back on the glider, on the glider out front. It was nice and cool in the morning and evening, good for hot tub and relaxing time outside, and comfortable temps inside all day/night. Hot water and pressure great for showers. Kitchen space great for meal prep. Sound of crickets at night with a big sky. So nice to be a little ways out of city center while at the same time close enough to visit there. Thank you, Dorothy.

Peaceful Weekend Getaway

My wife and I stayed here for Memorial Day weekend and loved the property. This was the quietest and most peaceful property we have rented. We live in a large city (8 million+), and to sit out on the front or back patio and hear nothing but birds (several hummingbirds), crickets, and the wind was a major blessing. The property was clean and stocked with most of what you would need. The owner even supplied filtered water in two large containers that sit in a ceramic carafe which is great for us since we drink a lot of water, plus a local champagne wine. The furniture was comfortable and the hot tub was great any time of the day, although it's hard to argue with night since you get to see so many stars. We were glad we chose this property and would like to visit again someday.

One of our favorite getaways of all time

We really enjoyed staying in your comfortable and very well built home. You have a nice collection of art and I have to admit that I covet that painting of the fence posts in your living room. Your gardens are lovely and I can tell that you enjoy gardening very much. I admired your vegetable garden, there is a little of everything that we might need for a salad. We observed the Hummingbird Moth, a creature that was so startling to us because we had never seen or heard of it. At first I thought it a hummingbird but it was not in either of the bird books. It looked like a giant bee to me but looked like it sipped nectar like a hummer! Your hot tub was very relaxing after all the walking that we did in downtown. Wish we could have seen more of the city but the Indian Market was the highlight. Thanks for all the recommendations for restaurants; we visited Maria's New Mexico Kitchen, The Plaza Cafe, Harry’s Roadhouse, and La Boca. We hope to return some day, and if so, will want to stay at your place.

I can't say enough good things about having rented this home. And I say "home" because it was so much more than a "house". We were greated to a warm, welcoming space, and although there are neighbors (within a quarter of a mile), the strategic plantings make you feel like you are in the canyon all by yourself--the thoughtful plantings made you feel like you were in a desert oasis. The kitchen was amply stocked with spices and other dry goods, in addition to pots, pans etc, and the ground coffee was good too. The private patio leading to the hot tub area was something we used each day, and viewing the night sky under a full moon, with the clouds rolling overhead, while relaxing with drinks was unforgettable. I had so many plans for our time in Santa Fe, and when we came to the house, they all went out the window. We just had to stay and enjoy the home that was so carefully created (temporarily) for us. It was like having your own provate spa. I can't wait to return to Santa Fe, so we can stay here again. We probably won't do much sightseeing then either, because we will spend most of our time here.

Beautiful and tranquil retreat

This lovely two story hay bale cabin sits in a perfectly tranquil pinion and scrub oak mountain setting. Though it is in a small community, it felt and actually was very private. The gardens, both flower and vegetable were a feast for the eye as well as the table. The home was completely equipped with everything necessary to set up housekeeping including spices and half & half for our coffee. Stone patios front and back were perfect for early morning coffee or evening sunsets. A short path off the back patio led to a private hot tub, which was delightful for star watching in the evening or bird watching with coffee in the cool mornings. It was a short 15 minute drive into town on the old highway with lovely vistas both into and returning. The short bit of gravel drive was fine for my low slung Prius with no clearance problems at all. Dodie, our host, was wonderful to work with, unobtrusively making sure everything we needed was taken care of. My sweetheart and I had come to town to explore the fine art galleries, partake of exquisite foods, shop the boutiques, and experience the ancient as well as contemporary culture the Santa Fe area affords. Dodie's cabin/home was the perfect setting to fulfill our adventure.

Santa Fe Getaway

The property did not disappoint. First off, Dorothy was great to deal with. Unfortunately, we did not get to meet in person. Her communication was terrific and she was very quick to respond to any questions. We wanted a place that was more quiet and secluded than staying in town and this was the way to go. House was clean, everything you could really need is provided. No microwave, so you just have to plan on using the oven or grill. I didn’t find a coffee maker, but a kettle and french press were available. Kinda forces you to slow down a bit which is what you should be doing anyways. House sits in a very quiet valley where mostly the only thing you hear are the birds all day long. No city noise, just wildlife and sometimes you can hear a distant neighbor talking in their backyard. The hot tub was very clean and great for a soak in the cool mornings and evenings. Every now and again a dog would stroll by to say hello. All three we met were super friendly. Cell service was minimal at best which I was perfectly fine with. Wi-Fi is available though if you do need to stay connected. Roads were fine as far as getting to the house for most any vehicle as long as the weather has been warm enough to melt off anything. The last little bit of the drive was a dirt road, but nothing crazy. I could see how it could be a little difficult to reach the house in certain vehicles if there was a bunch of snow on the ground. So it might be worth asking about in the winter months or after any major rainfall. Short 20 minute drive to downtown Santa Fe. Easy drive over to Museum Hill or to any number of trailheads. Overall, great stay, definitely recommend.

Really enjoyed my stay. It was beautifully decorated , clean, comfortable, peaceful, outside of 5g, centrally located to my New Mexico adventures and reasonably close to the airport. Dorothys place really checked all of the boxes for me for a restorative trip. The views of the stars are amazing from here. I have not stayed at many properties such as this but it was a really great experience way better than a hotel, I should like to come back again soon when return! Thank you for being a great host

Quiet getaway

This home was perfect for my husband and me—tucked away from the hustle and bustle yet just a short drive to everything we needed. It was spotless, had a fresh scent, and everything functioned perfectly. I highly recommend a vehicle with AWD, as mentioned in the listing. We experienced an unexpected snowstorm, making the roads a bit slick and the snowfall heavy, but it was all worth it. We cozied up and enjoyed a peaceful, quiet weekend.

5-Star Review: A Perfect Santa Fe Retreat!

For a quiet retreat and a special 50th birthday trip, this home was absolutely perfect for our week of adventures—Tumble Root for music, hiking nearby, local cuisine, and gallery perusing. It was the ideal size for two people, offering both comfort and charm. Each morning, we enjoyed breakfast and coffee in the peaceful setting of the house, striking a great balance between cooking at "home" and exploring the delicious local cuisine. The location was exactly what we wanted—secluded and tranquil, yet close enough to everything Santa Fe has to offer. The home itself was uniquely decorated, embodying the artistic and cultural essence of Santa Fe. The hot tub was a dream—a perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. Dorothy was an exceptional host—warm, welcoming, and incredibly hospitable. If you're looking for a serene escape with easy access to all the best of Santa Fe, this is the place to stay! Highly recommend!
