Riverfront cabin on Rock River

Completely remodeled and updated 975 square foot two bedroom cottage. Featuring 65 inch flat-screen HDTV, fully modernized kitchen with new gas oven, french door refrigerator, new Serta-Perfect queen mattress in master bedroom and pillow-top queen in guest bedroom.
This cozy cottage sleeps four comfortably, and has a full dining room and laundry with washer and dryer.
Amazing river views as soon as you walk in, but this home boasts a three season room furnished with a huge L-shaped sectional couch, surrounded by windows for spectacular views and comfortable relaxation.
Outside we have a large concrete patio fully furnished including a gas grill and even a hammock. There is a large fenced in grass yard leading down a gentle slope to the river where you'll find a nice fishing dock where you will see bald eagles, deer and other wildlife.
Preferred age limit; 26 and above. no children please, two day minimum. Due to insurance no swimming is allowed. Pet friendly negotiable. Limit 2 dogs and I do have a $30 nightly pet fee.
Just to be totally open as I did have a guest mention this. About a mile down river from my place they do have a trap shooting range and in the summer and fall you may hear them practicing. If you have any concerns or have questions about when they are shooting please don’t hesitate to contact me. I was able to find the schedule online. On a side note my dog is Very noise sensitive and from that distance it doesn’t seem to bother her as we spend a lot of time there when we can.. please feel free to contact me if you have questions. Great place to stay!

Very peaceful spot when you need a break to get away from things! Quiet neighborhood and clean house! Far enough away from things but close enough to run into town if you don’t want to cook!

Awesome quaint cabin. Exactly like it was pictured. The private fenced yard at the rivers edge was amazing and perfect for the furbaby. Our host was welcoming and friendly. I have already recommended this property to friends. If we were closer we would return in a heart beat! It gas much more to offer than what is described!

Perfect Quiet Getaway!

Bill was an incredible host and was easy to communicate with. The property is super cute and clean, and there is everything you could possibly need available to you. This was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the river views. I would highly recommend this house!

Lovely little place right on the river

Quiet cabin

Bill was very responsive to any calls/texts with any questions I had. The cabin is very clean and in a great location if you’re trying to get away from the busy city. If you want to enjoy a few days of relaxing, this is the place for you.

Easy to get to close to town nice little cottage house on the rock river kitchen stocked all seems updated Bill was available for any questions and bringing our dog made the stay better loved the 3 season sunroom and procate back yard

Visiting friends in Rockford, we wanted a quieter and more scenic place to stay than a motel. This cottage was about perfect for the two of us and our little dog. When we were not with our friends we could sit and watch the river drift by, listen to the birds, etc. The cottage was clean and neat, had everything we needed.

Rockford stay

We wanted to get away from the 4th of July fireworks with our dogs. We had such a nice (almost fireworks free) quiet and peaceful time. There were a few fireworks in the distance but not like a war zone in my neighborhood, Chicago. The owner was so nice and welcoming. The house was beautiful.

2nd Visit- As Wonderful as Expected!

This was our second visit to this property. It is exactly as pictured and even had an improved living room area with comfortable seating and a large TV. This home has all you need if you want to stay in and relax and is also close to surrounding attractions. The fenced in yard is lovely and well-kept. The host (Bill) is a delight. He makes check-in/check-out easy and clearly cares that you enjoy your stay. We plan on making this an annual trip!

Riverside view

Beautiful house! Great size for a small family and one of the only vrbo's I could find in the area that allowed dogs, thank you Bill! The only issue was sugar ants, but we were diligent about keeping food in the fridge. We love to cook at our vrbo's, there wasn't a whole lot of kitchen supplies but we made due with everything. Would definitely come stay again! Thank you, Bill, for a lovely and peaceful place.

Nice getaway!

Communication with Bill was great! Home was clean and cozy. Nice to have a view of the river from the kitchen, dining area and the all-season porch. The flowers were blooming and the hummingbirds where enjoying them. Saw a bald eagle about 5 different times. The best was when it swooped down to the river to get it's meal!

Rock River Beauty

We originally had intended to book the Residence Inn for our relative's graduation event in Rockford but the suite we wanted was sold out. I found this gem on VRBO and was hesitant to book since it was a new listing with no reviews. We were so glad we did! This is a beautifully updated well equipped cottage. As you walk in the front door, you can see the gorgeous river view. Everything is brand new, the appliances, the private fence in the back yard, the beds, etc. We also used the outdoor grill. We didn't have enough time and weather was not cooperating so we regretfully didn't get to check out the fishing but maybe next time. The beds are comfortable, there is a nice packet of toiletries provided, the towels are soft and huge. Bill responds immediately to any questions. If you want a relaxing reasonably priced nice place to stay in this area, look no further.

My husband, dog Buddy and I stayed over the Christmas holiday. We loved the place.

Bill was a wonderful host. He provided entry and other relevant information in advance of our arrival. He kept in touch but respected our privacy. We knew he was only a phone call away in the event we needed something. The house was well stocked (even laundry soap and dryer sheets) and very clean. Beds were comfortable. Peaceful and homey. Perfect size for 2 to 4 people. Nice decorating touches including Christmas placemats and wreaths. Our dog loved the big fenced back yard. Property location beautiful with river at the end of the property. Watched geese floating down the river ever morning from the dining room table. We plan to go back in the summer so we can enjoy the beautiful yard, pier and fishing. Thank u Bill for allowing us to stay at your home. We could not have asked for anything nicer. We will be back. It really is that charming!

We found everything that the other reviewers have said to be true. The property is clean, well stocked, and comfortable, and Bill is a wonderful and thorough host. The kitchen in particular has everything you could want in a guest house, but my favorite room was the sun room. The space heater made it especially cozy in the mornings while we were drinking coffee and in the afternoons while we played board games. We did hear the sounds from the trap shooting range nearby on a couple of nights, but the sound wasn't very loud, and they were done there by 9:00 p.m. both nights. It wasn't a problem at all. If you're a sensitive sleeper, you might hear some of the lower-flying planes from Rockford Airport at night. There weren't that many, though, and I think they were noticeable only because the property is so very quiet otherwise. On the nights I took allergy medication before bed, I was knocked out and didn't hear them once. :D I mention this only because I'm a lousy sleeper and I usually do not sleep well on trips at all. I hope the fact that I got as much rest as I did on this trip tells you just how peaceful Bill's guest house is. This was a great place for a leisurely vacation.
