This beautiful home was build with love and we were made to feel like family. Every inch of the house has been put together with thought and is clean and very well maintained. Breakfast was prepared for us on our schedule and was delicious. I would go out of my way to stay here again!

Patricia and Larry were so welcoming, our stay surpassed our expectations. The attention to detail to the property and how accommodating to our needs and schedule was perfect. Breakfast was delicious and such a warm, inviting environment. We will definitely be coming back here next time we’re in the area.

Lovely, historic recreation of a colonial mansion. Delicious food, warm and friendly hosts, elegant furnishings and amenities. The long, dark gravel drive is a little intimidating.

Warm and welcoming stay.

Easy check-in followed by meeting the owners. Very nice folks and extremely accommodating. The place was cleaning and welcoming and the staff were top notch. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was delicious! No complaints from us! Will for sure come back if we’re ever out that way again.

Loved the historically accurate home and setting. It is obvious that the owners have taken great care in building and decorating it after the colonial Virginia period. Delicious, ample breakfast in the morning after a welcome with chocolate chip cookies and tea/coffee if one wishes. Lovely room with very comfy bed and pillows. I happened to mention that it was our 44th wedding anniversary, and next morning we were gifted a lovely card and Belgian chocolates, with a Happy Anniversary banner over the mantel. What a nice surprise!

We loved the host and hostess. Very personable folks. The rooms are cozy and colorful. The breakfast was very good --- well beyond our expectations. Also the location is very close to the Rosie's Colonial Downs casino and horse race track. The location was rustic and easy to miss. Just drive slow the last two miles. Also the owners gave us a great map of the area once we arrived. All in all a great visit (note: no TVs but that is a part of the charm. Sincerely Mark and Aldona in South Carolina

We LOVED Gracefield Hall for many reasons: 1) the hosts were warm and accommodating and did everything they could to make our visit perfect. (Including loaning a jacket to one member of our party who planned poorly.) 2) The house itself is an historic masterpiece and the stories behind it are great. 3) Gracefield Hall is close to all three of southeast Virginia's hallmark historic sites, but is located in a calm and quiet part of the state. 4) The breakfast is indescribably delicious -- worth the trip all by itself. 5) The dog (Bristol) is a joy and a great part of the experience. (If you are allergic or just don't like dogs, no worries. Bristol DOES NOT have the run of the house.) 6) Because the location is less-than urban, you have the opportunity to see deer and other animals. And -- since there is no light pollution -- the night sky is glorious. Highly rceommended. Will return.

A new building designed in the style of colonial era homes. Larry and Patricia were terrific hosts. Breakfast was made to order and amazing, including biscuits made according to Larry’s grandmother’s recipe. Comfy bed, plush towels. The dimmer switches for the lights are a great touch. Plenty of parking, nice large backyard with tons of birds. Remote location so it’s nice and quiet. Absolutely would stay here again!

We love this B&B! This is our 2nd visit here & it is always a great place to stay. Larry & Patricia are so welcoming it makes you feel like family. The breakfast is always delicious. The house is clean & beautiful & hidden in the forest. Perfect location for us going to Colonial Downs to race. Our favorite!
