Wonderful cottage in great area
We came into town to tour colleges for my son’s spring break and this rental was perfect for us. Very accessible from the airport and in a very safe, walkable neighborhood. Great restaurants nearby and all of the amenities you would need for a getaway - full kitchen and laundry are a plus! Lili is a wonderful host - very accessible and onsite in the event of any problems, though our stay was perfect and without any issues with the property. Thanks again for everything!

Alberta Sanctuary
I had a wonderful, peaceful, rejuvenating time. It was the perfect location for me, access to the city, restuarants, shops, grocery store and nearby parks. The kitchen was well stocked. The only thing I would note is that the bed is incredibly SOFT, so be aware if you like a firmer mattress...

Wilshire Park Gem
We spent 2 weeks at this ideally situated property in late October. Inside is clean, modern, tastefully furnished and accessorized with so many extras to meet every need. The location is almost adjacent to a beautiful park, yet within easy reach of choice restaurants and unique shops. Superior host will make this a memorable stay in Portland.

Peaceful, comfortable stay in a beautiful neighborhood
We loved our stay here! Lill is a wonderful host, she provides everything you could need and more, and is super responsive and nice. I appreciated how clear the instructions in the house manual are, you don't always get that and have to guess or ask questions. My husband and I had just the right amount of space to relax, cook when we felt like it, and have our two adult kids share a meal with us there a couple of times. The bed and bedding are super cozy and comfortable, which we much appreciated too! We will definitely stay here again on future visits. 5 stars!!!

A lot of heart and thoughtfulness obviously went into every square foot of the ample 900+ space – a coordinated theme of fun and art. You can expect a neatly well-stocked home, divine bedding (even the pull-out) and joyful views of birds and grand fig trees through kitchen window. On the street, you’ll pass just a handful of houses fronted by careful gardens on your way to indulge in nature at Wilshire Park. The hostess provided a perfect balance of support and privacy – quick to respond to queries, yet never intruding. Often, it’s the little touches that matter – being greeted with my favorite wine, finding her succinct, yet warm and friendly, property manual. Finally, I’m pleased to report that the financial transactions went smoothly even with a change in our dates. Monica

Outstanding Stay!
Lils Zenn Cottage was perfectly set up and expertly decorated for our stay. The personalized treatment and hospitality was amazing and the added bottle of wine on arrival was a very nice touch after a long travel day. The location was perfect and worked well for visiting family and exploring the city. The nearby park provided a great place to walk and relax, and Lil's added cheer with fresh tomatos and offering of banana bread were greatly appreciated. We will be back and we highly recommend this vacation cottage for anyone looking to have a wonderful and relaxing stay in Portland!! Well done Lil!!

Wonderful Stay at the Cottage
Our visit to see our daughter in Portland began and ended at Lil’s wonderful Zen Cottage. It was cozy, spacious, clean and comfortable. She had all the amenities we needed to feel like we were at home. A full size kitchen made cooking easy and the it was a plus not to worry about street parking. The neighborhood has several parks and restaurants nearby, and it was very safe to take an evening stroll. We will definitely be returning on our next visit.

Comfortable and Cozy Oasis
We had a wonderful time in Portland. It was made all the more comfortable and relaxed by this lovely place to stay for two weeks. The host has thought of everything to make the stay stress free and easy for her guests. We were glad to call this place home for a short while. Well equipped kitchen made it possible for us to prepare dinner for guests one evening. Heating and cooling systems worked like a charm for the variable April weather in Portland.

Warm and inviting little cottage.
We have rented many homes through the rental services and I must say that Lill is the nicest most accommodating host we have had,. The property is well maintained, it is very nicely decorated, is well stocked and is warm and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.

This outstanding property in NE Portland is suitably named as it is a serene escape in a busy city. Beautiful residential neighborhood with quick access to restaurants, markets, and a great city park at the end of the block. Interior is spacious, well-equipped and artistically furnished. The host adds lots of lovely extra touches to make guests feel so welcome, We have enjoyed previous stays and plan to return.

The name truly suits this Get-Away cottage as a peaceful retreat with great walking access to NE Portland. Well equipped property, good location, gracious host
The property was immaculate and located in a nice part of Portland. It might have been the best equipped property we’ve ever rented. We did a fair amount of cooking and had what we needed. The gas range has four burners of various sizes. Even the knives were sharp, which never happens in a rental home. The owner, Lill, was a great host. She left us a bottle of wine and shared some stew she’d just made. There are spices and condiments and decent ground coffee and coffee maker. Laundry detergent and dishwasher soap are supplied. The bed is comfortable and there’s a dining room table and a desk.

Just what we were looking for
The property presents just as pictured. It is spacious and user friendly for the over 60 crowd. The kitchen and bath were both well supplied. There is not an outdoor patio to enjoy but there is a lovely park at the end of the block. The neighborhood is residential and quiet. It is well located for the Alberta Arts district with an abundance of dining choices nearby. It's a huge plus that there is on site parking. Have already recommended to other family looking to visit Portland.

Beautiful and spacious cottage with great access to Alberta street
This property was one of the cleanest and most comfortable rental in which we have ever stayed. It has a great cozy vibe, but was very spacious. About four blocks from Alberta street and one block from a large park, this Portland neighborhood rental is a great quiet oasis. Fully stocked kitchen, comfortable bed and two separate living spaces made our stay a pleasure. Booking, check in and communication with the owner couldn’t have been easier. We look forward to staying here on our next trip back to PDX.

We spent 12 days in the cottage as we were awaiting the arrival of our first grandchild. Lill is the ultimate host! She is so gracious and kind. We had absolutely everything we needed and more. She joined us in our excitement when our granddaughter was born, gifting us with beautiful flowers from her garden. I love this very walkable neighborhood! I walked each day in nearby Wilshire Park and beyond. We enjoyed New Seasons Market and restaurants and shopping in the neighborhood and the nearby Alberta Arts District. Lovely cottage
We throughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It’s centrally located in a quiet well kept neighborhood. The property is within minutes of a number of stores for groceries and or meals and coffee. The cottage has a very comfortable queen bed plus a sofa sleeper. The dining area haas a full size dining table, the kitchen had everything we needed from coffee to making a full breakfast. The weather was hot during our stay but the split unit kept us cool and we even had a fan in the bedroom during sleeping. The bathroom was spacious and clean with plenty of towels. I especially liked having a washer & dryer so I didn’t have to worry about if I packed enough. My Husband and myself were so comfortable and at ease staying at this cottage that we will definitely staying again on our next visit. Thank you Lill for sharing your cottage with us and for your prompt and easy communication.

Great host and neighborhood!
We had a wonderful stay in Lill's property, which happened to be in our old neighborhood. We had to make some work calls before the check-in time so I asked Lill if we might be able to check in early. She was very accommodating and allowed us to check in after the cottage was prepared for our arrival. We also noticed that there is now A/C in the unit, which was an update from what an earlier reviewer noted. Lill provided many amenities that made our stay more comfortable and we very much appreciated it! I would recommend this cottage to anyone! My only suggestion is for the cleaners to be a little more thorough in the bathroom where I found a few spots that had been overlooked, but they were easily addressed with supplies that were available.

Not what we thought….
The cottage was nicely decorated, but we had several issues. The 1st was the mold in the bathroom, around faucet in sink, in the shower track…. Very gross. We were led to believe the cottage had AC according to VRBO listing. There was a heat wave in Portland and we specifically wanted AC. THERE WAS ONE UNIT IN DINING ROOM, FAR FROM BEDROOM and not at all functional to cool the air. Sleepless nights due to too hot.. fan in bedroom running at blast which was noisy, moved warm air around, and blew harshly upon us during the night. TV was not working, Lill did nothing 1st 2 nights, whining at her lack of knowledge and expertise…. 3rd day she called cable company and was walked thru a fix. We had TV for 1 day. Cable saying no signal, called Lill, she said she was too tired to deal with our issue. Never even attempted to fix it again. It was miserable due to heat, no tv, and disgusting bath. Lill did share food she cooked for herself with us, kept asking if we ate and how was it. She has a beautiful backyard, but guests not allowed to enjoy as that is her private area, so no place to really enjoy outdoors…. Her dog barks a lot, too. Sorry, Lill…. We will not be back.

I am so sorry that you were disappointed. I have had nothing but five star reviews to date. Yes, there was a portable A/C unit in place ( so this was accurate), as well as a fan in the bedroom. We have since installed a mini split unit in the cottage, which had been on order for several months. Regarding Comcast and tv capabilities, this is out of my control. I did call Comcast immediately, per your request, but as as a consumer you have to be able to get a technician out to the property, which took several days. I wished I had a magic wand, but I don’t have one. If you read my listing, you would have known that my backyard is my private space, while you get to enjoy your private space on the cottage patio. These properties are clearly separated. In addition, my listing states that I own dogs, which are never out on their own in my yard. We go out to play and they come back into my home. We were clearly not a good fit.

What a wonderful place to stay! I could totally live here. This cottage is the perfect home away from home, and the host Lill could not be any more accommodating. The interior is absolutely beautiful, and provides everything you need for feeling at home. Lill is an amazing host, and communication with her is top notch. She has thought of everything to make this place one of Portland’s finest vacation rentals. I visited Portland during the hottest on record, and Lill made sure that I stayed safe and cool. What a cute place and perfect for our needs. Quiet neighborhood and the owner is fantastic and really makes sure to do all the little things that make a huge difference. Bathroom was even stocked with all the extras like cotton balls, bandages, lotion and q-tips! I actually went and bought the shampoo and conditioner provided for my own home as it was so lovely and smelled so good. The kitchen has everything you will need and more. So nice to stay in a place that clearly expects you to need and use kitchen stuff and doesn’t just supply 3 forks and a glass. Any cook would find what they need in this kitchen. Lovely neighborhood to walk in with a park a block away. Book shelf is full of books about Portland/Oregon and was a nice touch. Owner even stopped by with fresh flowers. Owner lives on the property and is very quick to answer questions or provide information via the VROB app. Could not more highly recommend….. would have given 10 stars instead of 5 if that was an option!

This was our first trip since our "Covid" lockdown so we were excited to travel again and see family after a year and a half of Face Time. This property exceeded our expectations in providing a comfortable, clean, well-furnished and ideally located home away from home. The Owner was always available and added so much to our enjoyment of the Zen Cottage, both by thoughtful and creative decor of the space and by generous extras, such as a bottle of wine to greet us, and even sharing her homemade soup one day! Every amenity we needed was provided, with unexpected touches to surprise us with great quality soaps and lotions, plus umbrellas, reading materials, games, and so on. Also, this property's location is just steps from a beautiful park and close to restaurants and shopping. Hope to return to Zen Cottage!

Perfect Place to Stay!
We stayed for a week at Lill's cottage and it was a fantastic experience! Everything you need to be comfortable away from home: comfortable bed, nicely appointed decor and plenty of space! Walking distance to parks and two shopping / restaurant areas. Lill was a amazing host, we highly recommend her cottage!

Lovely rental with delicious baked goods
Lill is a very friendly , lovely host Her vacation rental is decorated beautifully and is very comfortable. She was very helpful when I needed something for the kitchen. An extra treat is the delicious baked goods she offers often! ( her homemade potato salad is awesome) Nice, quiet neighborhood , close to Wishire Park and New Seasons grocery a short walk away.

Wonderful Stay! YOU WILL LOVE THE ZEN COTTAGE!
The Zen Cottage is spacious and clean! Highlights include the designated parking space, washer/dryer, and fully stocked bathroom and kitchen. Both the bed and leather sleeper sofa are so comfortable. Being incredibly close to restaurants on Alberta St is a plus! New Seasons, a great local grocery store, is also nearby. Lill is so helpful, kind, and thoughtful! If you're looking for a wonderful place to stay, choose the Zen Cottage. YOU WILL LOVE STAYING HERE!

Spacious and Well Provisioned in a Convenient and Quiet Neighborhood
The property was larger than we had expected and was very well furnished and equipped for a short or long stay. Our host was especially clear and responsive to all of our needs. The location helped introduce us to an appealing Portland neighborhood for dining and shopping. It was convenient to downtown and the gorge area.

PERFECT STAY!
What a sweet place to 'hang your hat' if you are visiting Portland! The neighborhood is just perfect; the accommodations - exactly what you would hope for; the owner thought of absolutely every detail to make your stay so very comfortable! If you want to cook, you couldn't ask for a more perfect, well-equipped kitchen! The decor is amazing; the linens are luxurious; the space is great for two people, but if you have two who don't mind a sleeper sofa, it's great - so good for 4 people! The neighborhood could not be more beautiful and friendly with plenty of wonderful restaurants on nearby Alberta Street. Great super market nearby, too. Parking is no problem! Pretty Wilshire Park just a few blocks away for the kiddos. The hostess provided us with everything we could ask for - including figs from her garden and a bottle of the most wonderful Rose! THANK YOU! We hope to be back again soon!
