Clean charming house with good breakfast, walkable to all the important places for dining. Could use an entrance sign, pictures on the wall and parking is a challenge during the day….. at night is fine.

Perfect stay in an indeed very charming place. Rooms and entire location looks newly renovated, for Swiss relations a very decent 4-star hotel in my opinion. Can only recommend.

It’s a beautiful home overlooking Ponta Delgada. There’s a beautiful pool in back and it’s extremely walkable as you are right in the old area all section of the city. Everything is very comfortable.

The staff was lovely, the breakfast was delicious, and the location was very convenient. The property was beautiful as well. However, the mattress was really hard and uncomfortable. I would not stay here again because of the mattress

Elegant and luxurious stay

Casa Portuguesa was such a beautiful and elegant building, with lots of beautiful hardwood in the rooms, spacious storage and bathroom, and a private patio with a big french door. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and breakfast was great. We loved the hot tub in the greenhouse and the pool to jump into to cool off! The location is perfect--on the edge of downtown, overlooking a park, just steps from good restaurants but far enough from the busy center to make driving and parking relatively easy. The level of luxury was fantastic, especially at such an affordable price point. We cannot wait to come back and explore more of the island from the comfort of Casa Portuguesa.

What a unique and wonderful place to stay. Our room was spacious, airy and bright. The staff is great, particularly Diego, who went out of his way to be helpful in a number of ways. Great guy - personable, professional and sincere. The house is close to many restaurants. Easily walkable. The only downside is that parking can be a bit difficult, but not a game changer. I’d stay there again.

Charming house lived up to its name and was truly charming. My husband and I stayed here for three days as part of our honeymoon and we loved it. The house is updated but still incorporates the local culture, room was beautiful and bed was comfortable and smelled amazing (going to be trying to figure out how to make my own bedding smell like that if the hotel reads this and wouldn't mind telling me). Included breakfast was delicious and there is always coffee and tea available in the lobby or in your room. We spent time by the pool with a cheeseboard and some wine which was wonderfully relaxing. Hot tub was really neat with it being enclosed by a greenhouse and surrounded by plants. Hotel was easily walkable to all the Ponta Delgada restaurants, bars, and shops and located by this beautiful local park with a little stand that serves smoothies and other beverages. Truly loved our stay here! Only funny thing was that us and some others missed the front door as I guess we were looking for something more obvious but it is just the first door up the steps when you walk through the gate. Don't go hauling your luggage all the way around the building like some of us did haha our room was conveniently the one to the right of that on the ground level so we had our own private entrance to the building which was very convenient for coming and going. Didn't feel unsafe at all as it still required a card reader and you could lock and shutter from inside. Hope to be back someday, loved it!

What a lovely hotel and staff. We would certainly come again. Air conditioner included, free parking next to the hotel and good breakfast with local food. Pool and jacuzzi were on point. We didn’t see any bugs. Maybe a bit unsoundproofed walls but just a bit so the noise wasn’t a big trouble.

Sehr schöne Unterkunft, mit freundlichem Personal im altehrwürdigen Stil. Poolanlage und Whirpool laden zum Verweilen ein. Zimmer und sanitäre Anlagen sind tadellos sauber. Das Frühstück war ebenfalls sehr frisch und lecker - könnte bei längeren Aufenthalten ein wenig mehr Abwechslung bieten. Das aber nur als Anmerkung und nicht als Kritik. Boutiquehotel mit wunderschöner Inneneinrichtung und nur wenigen Zimmern, ideal gelegen, sodass man kostenlos am Straßenrand parken kann, zu Fuß ins Stadtzentrum und zum Hafen laufen kann und trotzdem einen Rückzugsort mit Pool im Grünen hat.
