Playa Pelada

Overall, a very positive stay. The property is kept very clean. Rooms are spacious and clean. The pool system is a great one! It is a LARGE property. The beach area is very pretty and large as well. The cover in the pool area is well done offering good shade all day. You need it as the sun hits hard here. Staff is 90% smiles and very helpful. Where the property tanks is the food!! Very bland and few if no seafood offering in any of the "restaurants." If you've been to the DR you understand the food isn't bad but it isn't anything special. It is a step below that on this property. There are issues parking as well. HUGE parking lot but be prepared to be lucky and find a decent spot or you are walking what amounts to a few city blocks with no shade in some intense sun. The pool signs say closed at 6pm but that means the bar and towel service. You are allowed in the pool at any time. Overall, it wasn't an issue. We had a ocean/pool view room. At thene nd of our stay the ghetto from America arrived and were LOUD all night in the pool, ending at 5am. Staff should have done something but did not. Basically, improve the food and this place would be off the hook good! Rent the car and go see Costa Rica! At least hit Playa de Coco. Close proximity small surfer town. So much more to see. Worth dealing with the crummy roads and off-and-on cell service. Waze beats Google and Apple here. Costa Rican people in towns are usually very friendly

It’s a party. If you are into that, you will love it. The drinks are watered down, I’m guessing because they don’t want things to get out of control when you are day drinking. Premium bar is the real deal, but no atmosphere. Views are wonderful, staff friendly, be prepared for the bottle of wine upsell at dinner. You can ask for house wine, they don’t tell you that. Property is in need of a refresh. There is cracked tile, places that need paint, and not everything in your room will work properly. Bathroom sink area is not well thought out, I’m short and I could barely reach over the sink to brush my teeth because the towel bar is in the way. The Spa is a highlight. It’s expensive but the staff & service is worth it.
