Nature & Summer Activities The surrounding area invites you to spend plenty of time outdoors. The Huberer Weiher is just a short walk away, and the unspoiled Eitzenberger Weiher is also within easy reach. The region’s large lakes—Osterseen, Starnberger See, Kochelsee, Walchensee, and Tegernsee—are among the most beautiful in the Bavarian Oberland and are all just a few minutes’ drive away.
Hiking trails start practically right outside the front door: Benediktenwand, Jochberg, Herzogstand, or the many short hikes around Penzberg. Those who prefer cycling will find varied routes throughout the Oberland. And for golfers, there are several courses nearby that fit perfectly into a relaxing day of vacation.
Culture & Excursions The Bavarian Oberland offers an astonishingly rich cultural diversity. In Kochel and Murnau, you’ll encounter the Blue Rider movement, while the Buchheim Museum of Modern Art and the Glentleiten Open-Air Museum offer a glimpse into life in times gone by. The Penzberg City Museum also tells the fascinating story of the region. If you’re looking to relax, head to the Kristall-Therme in Kochel —with a view of the mountains. And if you do feel like heading into the city, Munich is easily accessible by train or car.
