First of all, this was a great property, the best VRBO we have stayed in, which includes Whidbey Island, Warm Beach and Princeville HI to name a few. Great views of Rainier, well appointed, nicely decorated and very comfortable. My wife and I loved it. The wrap around deck has great views of Rainier and would be a good place to gather.
It has good access to the Stephens Canyon entrance to the National Park, not a bad drive to the ski area, although I didn't drive it in snow. It is a little further to the Longmire entrance, which we had to use because the Stephens Canyon road was closed.
I am always a little skeptical of vaulted ceilings and sliding glass doors, but even with the windy conditions on our first evening the home was not drafty. Although we stated mid-fall, I never felt like this place would have problems with the cold. There are two ductless heat pumps which is more than adequate for property this size.
As an EV owner, I was a little apprehensive about driving an electric vehicle to Rainier, but there is a charing station just down the hill at the Union 76 in Packwood. It's not the fastest, but it did add about 180 miles in 45 minutes at 62kws, so not bad. I was able to top off at the property. We plan on staying here again.
