"Centrally located, near the lake, allows dogs. Needs grip strips on the stairs for dogs. Gets warm when the sun shines, at the top of the building! Is on the main road so some traffic noise. Is a fabulous property and we had a wonderful stay, would book again."
"Visable damp on the bathroom wall by the shower and a very strong smell of damp in the downstairs area including bedrooms. The owner tried to disguise the smell with air fresheners and by leaving the windows open but the smell of damp was still immediately apparent on entry.
Had we been staying longer than 2 nights and not arrived so late in the evening on the first night we would have left.
It was a real shame because everything else about the property and surrounding area was beautiful, but...

"Great base for exploring the Lakes. Pub rooms were good value. Welcoming lively pub/restaurant with good range of options and very generous portions! Plenty of free parking. All in all a great experience."
"We were able to check in early without even having to ask which we were grateful for. Nice spacious room, clean and comfortable. We both had delicious cooked breakfasts in the morning.
Would definitely stay again."
"Bar staff were friendly and talkative. Housemaid was terrific she also served us a delicious breakfast… she worth her weight in gold. We would definitely recommend and go back."
"Perfect place for a getaway. We were warmly welcomed by the host who straight away recommended places to go for dinner. Our room was lovely with a beautiful view of the countryside. We had a full English cooked for us which was spot on as we departed to climb scafell. We definitely would stay at this hotel again when we next visit the lakes "

It was a real shame because everything else about the property and surrounding area was beautiful, but the damp issue should be attended to as soon as possible as it is potentially a health risk."
"Comfortable weeklong stay. Good rooms, friendly staff, clean washrooms. Location also quite decent. Some really nice trails nearby. A bus stop nearby and ample parking for guests"
