Very nice stay.

Rowantree Hotel was very nice. Arrived a little late because of car trouble. Check in was quick and easy and because we didn't know when the car would be ready, they gave us a late checkout time with no problem. The desk clerk arranged a place for us to eat at a restaurant down the street because the restaurant at the hotel was closed. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was quick and easy. The car was ready at noon and checkout was fast. There is no elevator, which was the only down side. We were on the first floor, so that was not a major problem. They helped us up with our luggage. Location is excellent. Oban is a lovely town and the hotel is a couple of minutes walk from the harbour area. Overall, a very enjoyable stay. Would stay there again with no hesitation.

Staff accommodated our requests

We had few problems at the beginning of our stay: 1) when we arrived there was no place to park. The receptionist told us that only one of the cars parked belonged to a customer of the hotel. In fact the hotel has a private parking but they do not have control over who actually parks there. We were told to try few hours later. Eventually we were allowed to park in front of the kitchen. 2) we weren’t able to find a WiFi in the room (2nd floor). 3) the room and the bathroom smelled heavily of fried food coming from the kitchen on the ground level. It is not clear if the smell came from the window or the ventilation system. When we complained, we were immediately moved to another room, which was ok. As this room was available only for one night, we asked to cancel our reservation (which was for two nights) and they allowed us to pay only for the first night without penalties or charges. The location of the hotel is convenient, very close to the bay. Overall our stay was ok

OK hotel

Bathroom light didn’t work and shower pressure was very light to barely working , location is great, right in city center. For the price get what you pay for. Clean hotel !

Nice enough hotel only 5 minutes walk from station and next street back from the sea. Staff were friendly enough and gave me directions to the hall i was going. Food was fine and adequate. Bed was also decent and gave me a good nights sleep

When you arrive at the hotel via the parking lot you enter through the back door near the kitchen - not the best impression. We had a standard double room - it was quite small but adequate for a night or two. Great location and easy walk to most places in town and close to ferry terminal for those day trips out to the Isles.

Internet not working during my stay. Over charged on my bill and when I questioned it I was told it was correct but the member of staff did not look on the computer! I phoned when I returned home once I had checked my expedia itinerary and I was correct. They did however rectify things to my satisfaction.

Perfect for a short stay!

Only stayed one night would have no hesitation returning to this hotel. Very comfortable and large bed, and very clean room. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Convenient - but showing its age.

The Rowantree met our needs - inexpensive (compared to other area hotels) and convenient. It is really close to everything in Oban, and the parking is convenient. A nice breakfast was also included in our room price. The property is showing it's age, however, and could use a bit of an update. Wear and tear shows in the room (headboard of bed worn, light switches not working as they should) and in the lobby/steak house. Overall a decent place to stay.

Refurbished

We booked two rooms for ourselves for two nights and my sister & husband for one night. The cost for each was the same but one was spacious and as expected for a couple whereas ours was tiny and apart from the double bed was barely a single room. Our second night was spoiled by people who came in during the night from the pub across the road to the room next door. There was screaming and swearing on and off all night but we had no room phone to call reception and didn't feel safe to go down to complain. The staff knew nothing of it when we paid our bill but it turned out the room was trashed when the cleaners found it. We did get an apology and a free cup of coffee!! .
