We had a pleasant stay at Treetop, and there were some very nice touches, but there were definitely some simple improvements that could be made to improve the overall experience.
We were happily greeted by a nice bottle of Virginia Chardonnay and a plentiful supply of coffee. The cabin was clean and comfy in a nice setting.
There were plentiful wine glasses and a nice large set of plates, but no small plates, glass bowls or tall tea glasses. I may be a little particular, but I’m not a fan of eating or drinking out of plastic. Also, no vegetable peeler or ice cream scoop. Otherwise, the kitchen was adequate enough. (If you like to cook, bring your own knives .)
There could be a great view off the back deck, but trees were overgrown blocking the view of the range. A little trimming and it would be great. I suspect that in winter it’s just fine with no foliage on the trees. Decks were nice, but the grill was dirty, ash can was left full, and the chairs on the back deck were dirty and had to be cleaned before we could use them. We had to clean the grill before using it too. Exterior of the cabin could use a good cleaning and paint job.
We had the luck of a cold front that came through, so opened most of the windows for a pleasant experience. Some screens were missing, and one had holes. No AC, but from what Jimmy said there was one on order.
Bedrooms and beds were comfortable, but no place to hang clothes. The Master bedroom had a locked closet and nowhere to put clothes beyond a small bedside nightstand. So, we had to live out of our suitcases for the week. :(
The washing machine was the smallest thing I have ever laid eyes upon and was ancient but worked. Don’t plan on doing much laundry when you’re there.
Flatscreens in each bedroom and large one in living area were really nice.
Also excellent was the water pressure and showerheads in the small but clean, newly re-done bathrooms.
We were there in mid-June so activities included lots of great hikes and climbs, pool time, trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and visits to breweries and cideries. The flora and fauna of the area abounds and is wonderful to observe.
Jimmy promptly answered questions and set up keycode for entry and was pleasant to deal with.
All-in-all we had a good stay. Wintergreen, though known for winter fun can be a great time in the summer too.
