Wonderful outdoor terrace and inside penthouse lounge with 24–hour free coffee (espresso drinks). Free purified bottled water in hallways. Fast elevators. Friendly and efficient front desk staff. Excellent location near Grand Central and many restaurants/coffeeshops. Adequate electrical outlets for device charging.

Staff was friendly. Wish room was a big larger and had a mini-fridge (to put things in not just hotel selling drinks) / coffee maker. I think those two things would have made a difference.

Great stay and perfect for a city break with my son. Property and clean, staff were helpful but the breakfast was over priced for what it was.

I have stayed at the Public multiple times of the past several years, and now with a college student in NYC visit even more often. The highlights of the hotel are: the design of the rooms is brilliant- warm and modern, making them seem larger than they are, the common work area- inviting and spacious with comfy sofas, the cafe downstairs (shoutout to Noel!) as well as the garden space out front. Over the last few years the hotel has experimented with automated checkin (zero staff at checkin) which didn’t work well and have now landed on a hybrid of auto checkin and staffed kiosk which works really well. Will book again!
