We had a very comfortable stay at the hotel. The staff, Alex, was particularly very considerate. The hotel even provided us with complimentary breakfast on the first day since they felt that we came early in the morning and might not be able to go out for breakfast in time. Really nice of them! The place had a very large living space with a well-stocked kitchen and utensils. Will definitely recommend this place. The communication from the hotel was also very clear and the location markers provided were spot on.

hiccup with welcome, non a/c rooms too hot.

Tough to locate at night. Owner asked me time of arrival via email. Told him 11:30pm. We parked near police station and phoned owner continuously for about 20 minutes. No answer. Then suddenly a staff member appeared from a gate nearby and guided us in. Not a great start if you're coming straight from the airport. Non A/C rooms can become hot, even with Fan on!. Kitchen and lounge area is nice. You can help yourself to Tea. Gas cooker is there if you're in to your cooking. However, take away Kottu, fried rice, noodles all available from restaurant nearby. This booking was only for three days and was for a non-ac room. On checking-out, I returned after two weeks and booked an A/c room for 1 month directly with the owner, so cannot comment on that particular booking here. BTW, no hot water showers in this hotel, and water from shower can be a bit cold.

HĂŽtel simple mais tres propre. Grande chambre. Le gĂ©rant Ă  pris la peine d'envoyer un mail 3 jours avant notre arrivĂ©e pour nous donner l'adresse complĂšte et confirmer notre rĂ©sa. Accueil Ă  l'arrivĂ©e par le gĂ©rant. Wifi impec. Et Ă  ce prix lĂ  on a la clim Le drap du lit mĂ©riterait d'ĂȘtre un peu plus grand. Par manque de chance il nous a Ă©tĂ© impossible de dormir une nuit car il devait y avoir une fĂȘte religieuse avec des chants de femme et d'enfants jusqu'Ă  3h du matin. En revanche un peu excentrĂ© du centre. De nombreux bus y vont. Et mĂȘme le train. FrĂ©quence des trains environ toutes les 30 minutes quand ils sont Ă  l'heure. Et pour les jus il faut juste savoir ou les prendre car les arrĂȘts ne sont pas indiquĂ©s

Wonderful, Lovely, Easy and Cheap Accommodation!!

Initially I wanted to stay at the Hillstreet Villa for a few days only, but then I just stayed there throughout my 3 week visit. (Except a few days on trips outside of Colombo) Shamil is a lovely host who will help you out at any time. His staff is friendly and everything is always clean and in order. There is a nice little kitchen, free tea, fridge... everything you need. It is a quiet and safe place - the police station is actually next door ;-) I recommend this place to anyone who likes an easy and affordable accommodation in a good area of town. It is a 5 minute-ride away from the beach, 7 minutes to Hotel Mt Lavinia, and even if you want to go all the way up to the harbour or the Galle Face, it'll be around 20 minutes (2€) in a Tuk Tuk. There is some real good Biryani at Big Bite Biryani almost next door, 2 supermarkets... I hope, you will enjoy this place as much as I do!

Dit is geen Hotel

Het is verkeerd om dit als hotel te verkopen. Het is een prima hostel voor Back Packers voor 1 of 2 nachten, de eigenaar en zijn hulpje zijn vriendelijk en behulpzaam, maar als je er langer verblijft moet je vragen om schoon beddengoed en schone handdoeken anders gebeurd er niets en ook de kamer wordt tijdens verblijf niet schoongemaakt. Ook is er geen warm water, geen receptie en restaurant. Wel een algemene keuken waar je gebruik van kan maken. Dus prima voor trekkers die voor een redelijke prijs een bed zoeken voor 1 of meer dagen maar niet voor een verblijf van een of meerdere weken.

great place for lowest possible price

that's great cosy little and quiet family place for that low price! Clean and spacey rooms, nice terrace/balcony. the owner of this guest house - mr. Shamil, if i remember right, was very great host. Tho we arrived at 5 am, he was very kind and found rooms for us to stay in till our booked rooms were ready. He also was very helpful providing us with his own fridge, and giving us directions around the city I highly recommend this hotel for low-budget trips and for sure i will stay in this place when come to Colombo again. Thank you
