"Hotel was clean but dated. Carpets in common areas needs cleaning. Plants in lobby were dead or dying. The pipes squealed when showering. Wooden furniture was visibly worn. Weird wall at the end of the bathtub was a hazard, we both stubbed our toes on it multiple times going into the bathroom. Children were allowed to run down the hallways on our floor and above, which was very noisy (not the hotel’s fault but the point is that sound really travels through walls and ceiling). When checking in, the fellow at the desk upgraded us to a room with a pullout bed without asking if we wanted separate beds. As two women travelling together he would not have known if we were a couple, so it would have been nice to have been asked if that’s what we wanted. It felt a little lesbophobic, and made me wonder how other same sex couples might feel checking in at the hotel. For the record, we aren’t a couple, but I am a member of the LBGTQA+ community and it bothered me that he assumed we would want separate beds because we could have been a couple. Food from the pub was good and hot springs were nice. Bed was comfortable. "
