Helpful staff , central location.

While the hotel was "grand" my initial reaction upon entering was the overwhelming pumped in fragrance; it was too heavy a scent (I couldn't escape it). The check in staff was helpful and friendly as was the lobby bartender / barista. Marwan the concierge really stepped up when we needed to arrange for car service to the airport. But besides that, the staff didn't possess the warmth and charm we've come to expect in Cairo. The wait staff at the pool presented as uninterested in providing service. The pool is spectacular as is the gym - but given the gym is 24-hour access - we were shocked and disappointed to arrive to no water in the display dispensers on one morning workout, There were used cups and towels strewn on the counters and floors. Finally - the hotel room bathroom is not well laid out at all - no counter space and only one hook. We also had to report/complain about our concern regarding the rain shower head appearing to be loose (worried about it falling). The ATMS were malfunctioning and the gift shops were less than I would expect in a St. Regis. I don't feel the particular location lives up to the brand, service and quality I've seen at other St. Regis locations. I would likely NOT return to this specific St. Regis...especially with the new Four Seasons opening up in Madinaty.
