"We enjoyed our stay overall. The property is very quaint and peaceful, and we loved our ocean-view villa — it was comfortable, beautiful, and a lovely place to spend a few days on Mayne Island. Unfortunately, all of the resort amenities, including the pool, hot tub and sauna, were under maintenance during our stay, so we weren’t able to use any of them. It made the property feel less like a resort and more like an Airbnb-style stay where you’re largely on your own. We also ate at the restaurant on Friday night and dinner took close to three hours, which was especially difficult with kids, so I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant based on our experience. Most of the staff were very friendly, although one person at the front desk was quite dismissive when we asked questions about the island and didn’t seem particularly interested in helping. That said, we still really enjoyed our time on Mayne Island and loved our villa. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends — I’d just suggest exploring the island for meals and going in with the expectation of more of a self-contained getaway than a full-service resort."

"This is a wonderful place - we used it for our family vacation- which are rare. But the home and location were so special. Susan was so considerate and in constant communication with us. We were fortunate to see whales, but besides that - beds, and kitchen area were great! Comfort and an incredible time for all of us! Love Pender Island and Shangri-la were fantastic!!"

"Sue and Rob are incredible hosts. They could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Their lovely home is exactly as it shows on VRBO as is the amazing view. Sue and Rob went far out of their way to make sure we could take advantage of the island's best spots and made our stay extra special. We will be telling stories about this wonderful trip for years to come."

"This is one of the best places I've stayed! It's absolutely gorgeous. Very clean and it's the perfect blend of modern amenities (stunning bathroom) with classic features.The walkway to the water is great. It feels super peaceful and remote.Maureen is a great host! Super responsive and flexible. I'll be back if I'm on Pender again."
