In the timeless, open landscape of the Norfolk Fens, Thorpland Manor Barns offer visitors a wonderfully peaceful rural setting and shared enjoyment of a fine range of facilities including a heated open air swimming pool. Skilfully and lovingly converted from handsome farm buildings, and carefully retaining traditional features in their beamed interiors, all seven cottages provide the highest quality of comfort. Set near the owners’ 17th century farmhouse on a working farm, they all boast their own sitting out areas as well as access to the farm grounds, where coarse fishing and farm walks make this the perfect spot in which to relax and unwind. A sauna, hot tub and games room all add to the pleasurable atmosphere. A wide variety of attractions lie within easy reach including the NT’s Oxburgh Hall, a moated manor house built in 1482 and which holds special events throughout the year, and Langham Glass, where visitors can watch the traditional skills of glass making. A wealth of crafts and antiques barns, a butterfly and wildlfe park, water gardens, farm parks, plant nurseries, museums or rural life and a rare breeds centre also promise good days out. Boasting several unique wildlife habitats and criss-crossed by footpaths and quiet lanes, the wide scenery of the Fens and the heathland and forests of the Norfolk Brecks offer excellent walking and cycling opportunities, whilst the north Norfolk coast, with its picturesque villages, salt marshes and bird reserves, is an easy drive. Sandringham House and Park is well worth a visit and the Victorian seaside resort of Hunstanton’s sandy beaches, rock pools, majestic cliffs, beautifully planted gardens, traditional amusements, fun fair and host of water based activities are sure to delight visitors of all ages. Standing on rising ground just 3.5 miles away is Downham Market, one of Norfolk’s oldest market towns and offering a good choice of shops, inns, restaurants, tennis and a sports centre. Fishing and golf are all available nearby. Shops and pub serving food 1.5 miles.

Had a great holiday, family of 4 including 2 older teenage lads.
Had a great holiday, family of 4 including 2 older teenage lads. Loved the pool, hot tub and pool table. We used the BBQ on our patio a number of times and generally had a great time. Note for future visitors, the Heron pub does brilliant food and there is a butchers about a mile away which does great food for the BBQ.

We had a lovely last minute break at Timbers Barn. The weather was fantastic so we made good use of the pool and play area.
The owners made us feel very welcome.
Would love to stay again in the future.
If you're visiting with children, Old Hunstanton beach is great for finding shells!

Absolutely brilliant!! I stayed at timber barn with my two young children (5years & 2years old) my Mum and Nan. We all had such a great time and Mary is very lovely and friendly. The barn itself is very homely and has everything you could possible want and is decorated perfectly. Location wise is literally amazing, we had four full days out, we visited Thetford Forest which was around 25min away, A rare breeds centre which was 5 mins away and is an absolute gem of a place, castle rising castle, Sandringham which was about 20 mins away and dinosaur adventure which was 50 mins away. I honestly cannot fault our holiday in anyway. There is a children’s play ground on site, hot tub and games room and also a swimming pool wish opens in May. I have already mentioned to my husband I would like to go back.

Timbers Barn is a really comfortable base for visiting Norfolk.
Timbers Barn is a really comfortable base for visiting Norfolk. The accommodation is perfect for a family holiday - we went with our son and his wife and baby (1yr) and felt really at home. We found it easy to access the coast as well as inland places such as Ely. All this and only two hours from home. We went to the nearby pub - The Heron - and were well received. The landscape and skies were wonderful even if the wind was a bit full on at times.
