We had a great time staying at Key Colony. Our week flew by. Some in our group used the beach club, some walked to the farmers market on Tuesday, some went to the happy hour at the Key Colony Inn. We cooked most nights and rented a pontoon boat that we tied to the dock. We love Key Colony. This year there were 10 adults- aged 40s-60s, mostly couples and we rented both sides of the duplex. We did have a bad experience with hot water in the upstairs master bathroom shower - as there was none. The rest was fine.I rented the unit through VRBO which was hosted by Vacasa. Vacasa made it seem like I should only talk to them. Apparently if I reported the incident during my stay to VRBO, they would have compensated me for the inconvenience. However because I called 15 minutes after checkout, VRBO could do nothing. I called Vacasa 3 days of my stay and took the option of texting on a different day. They did send someone out on the first day I called but when I let Vacasa know that it wasn’t fixed, nothing else happened to resolve the issue. Bottom line- Vacasa’s customer service is poor and if you have a problem during a VRBO stay - don’t wait, report it immediately or they can’t help you according to their policy. Even 15 minutes after checkout, they will tell you it’s too late.
