We stayed at this hotel 33 years ago for our wedding night and it was called the rendezvous. The staff were absolutely fantastic. It was a central location with parking available. We were absolutely spoilt and we can't wait to go back.

Staff were so nice- especially Anna! All staff were so accommodating and helped us with whatever we needed. Beautiful place to stay at. Personally wouldn’t recommend over 3 or 4 nights in colder weather as it does get a little hard to figure out plans.

We arrived on a Sunday evening and the restaurant and bar were closed, which isn’t mentioned anywhere. The staff on the desk wasn’t forthcoming with any suggestions. Which meant going out in the dark to search out some food.

The penguins and the shark tunnel are very interesting.  We paid extra for the Penguin Experience to go into the enclosure with a  keeper and get up close with the penguins.  It was a terrific experience; however, it is advertised that photos of you with the penguins are included and in fact a young woman did take many photos, but we never received them and customer service at the aquarium said they couldn't help us.  My memories are great but I would have liked the photos.

It boasts a great view of Rangitoto and Auckland city, and during the last century was used by the military for coastal defence. It’s no longer used for military purposes, but old bunkers and tunnels were left behind for people to now explore.
